I hear that on other forums almost every day. It shows a wierd dude with part of his face ripped off and he's wearing a purple cape. What the f&*$ does it mean?! Is it from some video game or something?!

It is indeed from an old video game called Zerowing and has become something of an internet legend, especially on sites like /. and Fark.

The joke is essentially that the Japanese > English translation done on the game was typically Babelfish-like and came out like nonsense English.

The most famous line is the subtitle "All Your Base Are Belong To Us" on the image of the guy in the purple cape.

Thanks for the info. I have heard that phrase a lot recently and assumed it was from a video game, but it's nice to know the full story of how it came about.
