I was very pleased to be in Dodger Stadium last night as the Dodgers beat the Braves, 3-0. Garciapara initiated the scoring with a two-run homerun in the bottom of the 5th inning.

But the big story was Dodger pitcher Hiroki Kuroda.

He retired the first 21 batters that he faced, 7 perfect innings.

After allowing a double to lead off the 8th, he retired the next 6 batters that he faced.

He had to settle for the 1-hit shutout victory, but it's the closest to a perfect game that I've ever seen, just 28 batters faced and all but one retired.

Yay, Hiroki!

that sounds like a hell of a game maybe hell get a perfect game soon there is hope 😀

In 1985, I saw Frank Tanana pitch a one-hitter at Tiger Stadium vs the Milwaukee Brewers. The only blemish was a Cecil Cooper home run.

With all their young talent and now Joe Torre at the helm, the Dodgers should be good for years to come.

Maybe they'll even have the privilege of losing to the Red Sox in the World Series a couple times.

That would be welcome. 😀

They've already done that, in 1916. The star of the Red Sox pitching staff that year was Babe Ruth.
