So when I did the reworked version of Kelyn's message, I also reworked another old 3D pic of Khali, which featured the characters Safira and Ellia. Throughout the process, I made screencaps and kept note of all techniques I used. These I assembled into a tutorial.

This tutorial should work for all photoshop versions from Photoshop 7 and up, as well as Photoshop Elements. I have included it with this post for those that are interested to take a look at it. 🙂

Oh lord, how I remember Safira! Another excellent job! It's amazing, seeing as how I'm in the 1% minority that uses something other than Photoshop...that you and I still use several very similar techniques in the post-render process.

Nice freakin' job, man. :triangle:

Always had a thing for girls dressed in Arabian style outfits, so you can imagine how I'm feeling right now. :manicd:
Thanks for sharing! :woot:

milagros317: Thanks man! 🙂

Dave2112: Thank you! 🙂 Yeah, It took me a very long time to take the step and buy Photoshop CS3, which has been a big bite out of my budget, but it has proven more than worth it. Prior to that, I used Photoshop Elements, which has almost all of the functions of Photoshop, but at a fraction of the price. I had to switch to CS3 because I needed it's CMYK support for some commissions, and such functions such as the pen tool and the warp cage have proven most useful too.

Concerning Poser, which version do you use? I believe Khali used Poser 4...

Serious_sam: Thanks!

Heh, me too! That's why I have so many of Khali's "Safira" pics in my collection. 🙂

Indeed, Khali does use Poser 4, and so do I. Speaking of which, scavenger, if you want to try redoing any of my 3D works, feel free. They're not much right now, but if you see anything you like, let me know on dA, OK? 🙂

At any rate, this one came out nicely too. I always liked Safira, she's one of my favorite characters that Khali's created.

Yeah, she's my favourite too! 🙂 Thank you. 🙂

I doubt I'll find the time to rework more 3D pics... that's basically why I put up the tutorial file, to share the techniques I discovered with everyone who might want to touch up (their) 3D art. So why not give it a try? I'm sure you'll do a great job. 🙂

what the heck XD I think i accidently posted on the wrong thread, my first post ended up on the other piece you did for some reason, anyway here's what i meant to saw for this one:

once again this is an awesome example of what you can do with some manual lightning adjustments. Even from a render it has a very painted quality to it but also feels very solid and graphic because of its start as a render. I'm really loving what you did with the skin, the different planes of shading from the darker parts under their arms and between their legs, to the parts that a brightly reflecting the bottom left light source, you really got your sense of lighting down on this piece! that extra texture you added to the stone is just plain awesome, i'm going to spend several nights trying to figure out how you did that. Great upgrade from a great foundation render

EcEu: thanks man! 🙂
considering the stone textures, that's all explained in the tutorial that's in the attached file. 🙂

wishfoot: Thank you!

tru x factor: Thanks! The blue toe nailpolish is part of Khali's original design. I must admit I like them too! 🙂

While I didn't say anything on Deviantart... I did favourite it for it's supreme awesome.

Seriously... your style of coloring on top of the wonderful render is simply fantastic to look at. My best regards to this Khali/Scavenger Team-Up! 🙂
