Hi,

Just out of interest, are American TMF members watching the World Cup?

And is anybody out there now??

C J

Watched it at a bar today. Had to refrain from drinking, since I'm working later

I've seen brief parts of it, but I'm not really "watching it".

Many Americans are very into the World Cup. I was walking down Austin St today, the main street here in Forest Hills, and it seemed that every bar I passed, had it on, with people being really into it.

No interest whatsoever. Although I have incredible respect for soccer players coordination and stamina, I simply have no passion for the game.
For me it's MLB, and the NFL. Could care less about any other sport.

I'll be Honest, when it comes to Sports that I watch, Soccer is at the Bottom.

For me it's The NFL, NCAA Football, NCAA Basketball, and the NBA (In that Order), then everything Else.

I watch Baseball mainly for the Post-Season. I just can't get into it much during the Regular Season.

I rarely watch Hockey. The recent Stanley Cup was the most I've watched in recent years.

I'm not trying to offend anyone who watches Soccer regularly, I just never could get into watching it. It's more Fun to Play in my Opinion.

Though I can't sit through an entire game, this is the most attention I've ever paid to the World Cup.

I haven't been giving it a lot of attention myself, but I've noticed this World Cup a lot more Americans seem to be heavily vested in it than ever before.

How embarrassing for us that a country that really doesn't care about football generally has gotten farther than us in the World Cup!

Lol yeah we were rubbish!!!! When I watch USA games everyone seems so passionate and they are doing so well and have. Some quality players I just find it amazing that it's not very popular. Credit to NBA NHL NFL etc

Even though I played soccer in high school (long ago), I haven't watched any of the World Cup games.

I'm surprised you're not more into it, if for no other reason than Ann Coulter blaming soccer for the moral decay of America. Plus, you could meet some new girls there and make some new friends!

I've been following it with almost fanatical attention(for me). It's fun....I love it. And I enjoy soccer fans. I'll be in withdrawal when it ends.

USA vs Belgium will be a sloberknocker, can't wait for that one 🙂

That's one thing I love about Soccer, the Fans. They're defiantly some of the Most Colorful.

Though sometimes, soccer fans take the game too seriously.

The problem is lack of scoring. its no fun to see a bunch of guys running around for 90 minutes and only score a goal or two. thats like watching a football game ending up in a 7-3 final. a snoozefest.

That's where we disagree I think. There is a lot more to the beautiful game than just goals. We like a bit of subtlety in our sport. There are games that finish 0-0 that have you on the edge of your seat for 90 mins!

This is true...BUT...it's still THE ONLY SPORT IN HISTORY...that can end with a score of 0-0!!! (I know American football has that potential)...but it hasn't happened since the '40's or '50's. (I think) I also know that in "tournaments" (like the World Cup) they do play "extra time" and/or go to PK's. But still...when a match ends 0-0...it's like watching kid's soccer in which "they don't keep score"...even though the kids themselves know exactly what the score is!!!

That's my two cents!!!

I was at my friend Adam's parents house in NJ this weekend, with Adam there of course. Adam and his parents were watching quite a few games of the World Cup, so I was trying to pay attention to it with them. I don't watch it on my own, though.

There's talk about USA getting World cup 2026

Russia in 4 years

Qatar in 2022

But I do hope they take it away from Qatar as loads of poor workers are dying and Fifa as usual are burying their heads in the sand.
