I am going to perform an experiment in seeing how people react to the general knowledge that one is ticklish. I plan to go into several different IRC servers under the alias 'Ticklish' into various rooms. I'm finding this hard to explain but you people get the gist of it, right? Seeing if people attack me more readily by my screen name and how many initiate the attack. I'll post my findings in the following format:

-Servername
-#Roomname
-Date

-Log of the attack

Feel free to conduct your own experiments and post them here but kindly use another alias so we don't end up fighting each other for the nick.

You may need some sort of 'control' subject as well though. I mean, entering the same room at the same time of day under a more benign name.
I am very interested to see the result. 🙂
 
well three hours later and no success yet. They don't seem to notice anything peculiar about the name. I may have to instigate the action myself to get the desired reactions...

I'd suggest Ness AGAINST plunging headfirst into mirc.
Be sure to get a couple of tools for personal protection, if you don't already have them. 🙂

I think TT could help you in this regard if you are not familiar. I'm sure you are, but I just feel pedantic right now.

Zonealarm is a good free protection against SOME irc attacks.

I can't think of anything else, right now. But I'm sure other will come up with sound advices too. 🙂

Excellent idea for an experiment, Acorna 🙂 I eventually turned something like that into a college term paper on chat-room sociology, which earned me an "A" 🙂

IRC is "old-school" chat, not unlike Yahoo Conference, except with mods ("chanops"), and the ability for people to join and leave without being on a friends' list or invited list.

IRC can be quite enjoyable; you can even transfer files on it, and some systems allow user pictures and other enhancements. I recommend mIRC, as Acorna suggested, but if you don't want to register the software, HydraIRC (available at http://www.webattack.com/get/hydrairc.html ) is said to be good. I can assist with setup if anyone has difficulty connecting with it.

Cool I've not came back to this thread for a while and it blossomed into 3 pages!

I'm glad Crash came over to our community. I hope many fetish bearers come over and realise that they're not so alone after all.

My mIRC only suggests registration, the downloading is free. BDSMnet seems to be the most open place for fetishists so far to display their interests. I was mercilessly attacked in the room called #BondageTheater and I debate with myself (And Nessy) wether or not to post the log.
 
Though it was in a BDSM room and therefore not exactly in the spirit of the experiment, I encourage you to post it as it is an entertaining read. 😀
