Hi all,

I've seen in several thread posted, that it's very difficult to post clips longer than 2 MB, i founded a program named "hacha.exe" that can split a big file (any file type) in chunks of any size that you want it. Because this file is a program file (.exe), i had to rename to hacha.zip. You only must to download it and after rename "hacha.zip" to "hacha.exe". This program it's in spanish language, but i'ts very easy to use. To split a big file only must to indicate size of chunk (1.44 by default or your size), press "cortar" (cut), after in an open-dialog select it file, hit abrir (open), next in a window titled "cortar como" hit "Mete hacha" button and finally after program end this process press "aceptar" (accept). To unsplit or rebuild it file only must to hit "Pegar" (paste), after in an open-dialog select it file, named "filename.0" and finally hit "Abrir" (open). Then it file will be unsplited. I hope that it can help you to split big clips. Good luck. 😉

When I start hacha.exe it said : "The Compressed(zipped) Folder is invalid or corrupted." What Shall I Do ?

Maybe, you didn't rename "hacha.zip" to "hacha.exe" or didn't rename rightly some files to be unsplited (re-assembly). Please try it, again. 😎

You can do it using command window, rather than do it by means of Win Explorer.

im missing something here like making it work - dowloaded all the clips and the recompiler - but how do i identify which ones to recompile - have tried putting them in another folder & highlighting them - to no avail

what should i do next?

Explanation on hacha use...

I'll explain step by step, how to do, to split and join/reassembly clips using hacha program.

To Split a big clip you must :

1.- Run hacha program (Double-Click on its icon).
2.- Select size of chunks/parts (on frame titled "Tamaño"). By default
it has 1.44 MB, but you can to set your own size.
3.- Hit "Cortar" button. Next will open an open-dialog.
4.- In this window, select your wished clip (you know, using path, selecting file and finally hitting open/accept/ok or whatever).
5.- will open another window titled "cortar como", only hit "Mete Hacha" button.
6.- splitting will begin. After end and finally appear last window, titled "Hacha 2" it's a message window indicating success of process. Hit Accept/Ok or whatever. Only rest to zip each part/chunk, one by one.

To re-assembly clip you must :

1.- Run Hacha program.
2.- Hit "Pegar" button.
3.- In the open-dialog select path where all files were unzipped, next select file named "filename.0" (name of clip and .0 extension).
4.- Hit "open" button, next in following window, hit "mete hacha" button.
5.- The clip start its re-assembly !!.
6.- Finally, hit "Accept" or "ok" or whatever in last message window, that says "Operación complete con exito" or similar sentence.
.

I would just like to say that while I've allowed big files in the past, it's been because of lower forum activity which has obviously changed. So please if you do use this program keep your postings under 10mb at the very least. Thank you.

Can I be blunt?

Please can we just post clips in normal formats? I'm missing out! Us MAC users get a bum deal as they don't open!

Thanks!

I'm sorry andymac, about of it. Big clips need to be splitted to can to be posted. I haven't another way to do it, else using hacha or hjsplit. I can't to use winrar or another software that require installation, due to my hard disk is full !!! (i only have less than 100 MB of free space and my OS is Win XP Pro.). I apologize for it, but i haven't another method. Thanks you for your understanding :happy::happy::happy::happy:.

Great first post, really... 😉

...

Whatever.

Any alternative prog to hacha?
I tried Winrar and it wasn't too bad... but not too good either.

Truth is: nothing is really easy, or cheap, or anything.

The pro about winrar is it's quite easy to rejoin the split files, since it's transparent to the user: just extract, and as long as you have all the spanned archives, winrar will look for them automatically.

Hacha is tougher since it doesn't use right-click menu or dragging action. The only sure-fire way is launching it and looking for the .0 file, then click on pegar.

A couple more mouse clicks than I deem necessary - and enough to baffle some users.

Reg's.

I would use winrar, but actually i can't, because my hard disk is almost full, maybe when i buy another hard disk i'll do it, but meanwhile not. Hacha so as hjsplit and another utilities don't require install (not copy anything in your hard disk, except .exe program needed).

To andymac...

And anothers classics Mac users. Here's a beta version of hacha for Macs (version 7.5 up to 9.x), i'm not really sure if it works fine, but source file performed very well on my Mac OS 8.1 (Emulation for Mac on PC). Try it and comments to me !!!. I hope that it can to help you !!! 😉:happy::happy::happy::happy:.
