There were tons of injuries, controversy, and even allegations of sexual harassment?

The thing that struck me about the injuries this week is that 2 starting QBs were injured on the first game of the regular season. When was the last time that happened?

Despite the Chicago Bears outplaying The Detroit Lions by nearly 300 total yards, the bears managed to only get 2 TD's and save by a controversial call against the Lions. Calvin Johnson made what looked like a good catch in the end zone but there's a rule in the NFL, a terrible rule, which says that "in order for a catch to ruled a completion (technical counted catch), a player must maintain possession of the football during the entire process. A good call on a bad rule. As an added blow to a technical loss to the Lions, they also lose their starting QB Matt Stafford for an unknown amount of time. Let's take a look at the other team with the injured QB.

Philly V Packers. The Philly coach decided to put his faith in Kevin Kolb, a less experience QB. Kolb gets 5/10 completions for 24 yards. Kolb gets injured. The Eagles turn to their backup Michael Vick? Vick takes over and uses the most bizarre throwing style I've ever seen. He throws side armed at the knees of his receivers earning him 16/24 completions for 175 passing yards and he rushed for another 103 yards on sneaks. The Eagles nearly pulled an upset on the highly favored Green Bay Packers. Nearly? you ask. Well the Eagles coach blew both his remaining TOs before the 5 min marker. When the Eagles needed a miracle on a fourth and less than a yard play, the coach decides to have Vick try and run the ball for any kind of forward progression which he fails to get. Game over.

The New York Jets V Baltimore Ravens. Not much happens. The events of the game reminded me a lot of the Super Bowl XLII when there wasn't too many significant events going on in the first three quarters of the game. The difference was in the end the Jets were unable to pull miracles out of their butts to save them from an uneventful performance.

The Cowboys lost to Donovan McNabb and The Washington Redskins. A penalty against the Dallas Cowboys earns them a loss on what could have been a win much like the Detroit Lions.

Vikings lose to Saints.
Dolphins beat Bills.
Titans beat Raiders.
Pats beat Bengals.
Giants beat panthers.
Steelers beat Falcons.
Buccs beat Browns.
Jags beat Broncos.
Texans beat Colts.
Cards beat Rams.
Seahawks beat 49ers.
Chiefs beat Chargers.

Somewhere along the lines, a really attractive reporter was in the Jets locker room when inappropriate comments could have been made toward her and the Jets have a lot of splain'n to do.

Much has happened in just week 1 of the NFL regular season.
