Yeah, I know, I need to take you all out to lunch or something.
Anyway, here is my latest dilemma (if it is any consolation, you folks are batting %1000 for me in the solving the issues category).
Quick background: Three computers in house, modem and router downstairs. I have a router extension (whatever it is called) upstairs for me.
All computers in household (including both pcs and macs) are having trouble with internet connection. It started about a week ago and is getting worse. We are getting disconnected. The icon down on the bottom right is saying that I have "local only" or "limited connectivity".
The modem, the router, the router extension are all different companies.
So far, my cable company think we need to do this 24-48 hour test of connecting the laptop to the modem to see if it is the modem. That means disconnecting the wireless router for that time.
One question for you folks: I am considering getting the router through my cable company for an extra fee every month because it is a pain trying to deal with three different companies who all feel it has to be one of the other two (I have been there before). Also it would be professionally installed.
Another question: How would I go about testing the router in the first place?
Feel free to offer any other ideas.
Thank you and for those of you who went to NEST, hope you had a great time. Take care.
