To those of us with animal avatars (cats, birds, owls, etc), is there any particular reason you chose your animal?
Astrological sign?
Chinese new year?
Or maybe you have a more in depth/ less in depth reason. Here I go:

I chose the frog because I have no ass. And I also where pants. It ties to a Jeff Foxworthy joke. I dunno, not terribly thoughtful.

I chose kamineko here for several reasons.

1) I'm an ailurophile. Cats are noble, aloof, mystical, playful, wild all wrapped into one.

2) I like anime, as I enjoy other storytelling forms. It's a great medium.

3) I love the picture. I really think that it conveys my 'lerish qualities; playful yet devious.

I chose a fox because I thought it was an interesting species (which seems universal considering the countless appearances in numerous fictional stories). It's basically like a result of a cross between a dog and a cat: the basic strength and tenacity of a dog, and the agility and speed of a cat.

Though I have been thinking of making a tiger character since it's my Chinese Astrological sign and I've been wanting to be more in touch with what little Chinese I have in my blood XP

I wonder if anything can be said for Owls?..

Just maybe? 😉 People are always ascribing either perceived animal traits to themselves, or considering themselves like certain animals as a way of understanding themselves. Like, an owl could represent knowledge, a wolf could be power and nobility, a fox might mean cleverness, etc. It ties in with human tendency to anthropomorphize animals, especially in folk tales or 'Just So' stories.

Cats are noble, aloof, mystical, playful, wild all wrapped into one.3)

Like this! 🙂 Even if people don't outright believe in "spirit animals" or somesuch, most of us at least have a *favorite* animal, and that's probably because it reminds us of ourselves in a way.

I should get myself an animal avatar, speaking of. Maybe either a wolf or a big cat of some sort. I guess I'm equal parts a dog and cat person. 🙂

EDIT FOR UPDATE: I went with Hanuman, the monkey-headed Hindu god of wisdom and knowledge (things I prize) but also silliness (something I have too much of already 😉

I used to use an image of Akamaru from Naruto... the reason I used it, while partly from my name, a portion of a name of a certain type of dog is used in my full name. The picture, as well as my s/n, is an allusion to that middle name of mine. It's pretty obvious if you read it and think about it. 🙂

(Now I use Kenpachi Zaraki because of his height - something I hold in common with him) 🙂

My avatar represents a legend y'all may have heard from time to time...

...that is, the legend of the TickleMonster, an animal that's large, insatiable in its appetites and particularly drawn, primordally, to wiggling toes and helpless shrieks of gorgeous female laughter. Legend has it that this monster is occasionally spotted in its natural habitat, performing the task by which he is named and providing further stories through which the legend takes form. He does not have the media exposure or, sadly, the street cred of your more storied monsters, like the Sasquatch, the Yeti, or Sigmund the Sea Monster, but the Ticklemonster truly prefers it that way, humbly etching out his own private, lower-level legend amongst those he chooses to encounter. And no, he is NOT evil. Sheesh. Like anything that could make a gorgeous lady giggle so hypnotically sweetly could truly be considered evil... 😉

Should you spot this TickleMonster, do not, repeat, do NOT run away screaming for mercy. He feeds on this, and will only give it to you triple when he catches you...and he may be slow afoot (and a bit slow upstairs as well, legend has it), but he need only catch you once. Better to perhaps offer him brownies in an attempt to dissuade him from his single-minded task. Home-made ones with chocolate chips subtlely, lovingly mixed into the batter work best, and has the only true chance of calming and soothing this savage TickleBeast. He also can occasionally be distracted by random pop culture references, talk of most professonial sports, and the occasional witty line along the gist of, "Hey, quick! Look over there! It's a flock of hippos!" Did I also mention this monster is NOT evil? Nope, not even close...

How did I become so well-versed in the chilling particulars of this legendary TickleMonster? There's only one way to find out... 😉
