Animal charity/shelter question(s)

How would I be able to check into any given animal charity/shelter to make sure it is legitimate? I honestly want to donate,but I want to make sure I am not donating to some con artist group

Hopefully I can find one near where I live in PA

Well, I'm not sure how animal shelters operate in the U.S.... but here in Canada you know they are legitimate because they are all called "The Humane Society" in most communities. Its an organized national chain, but caters of course to each individual communties needs... and I agree, it is a worthy cause 🙂

I think the humane society down here is the same It's some of the smaller ones I wonder about I looked at one on the net.and it showed like a tax ID for a charitable organization

Don't think just local... and honestly, be wary of just choosing a generic humane society or ASPCA. Make sure you agree with their politics. Make sure to find out if it's a no-kill shelter or not. There are many reputable national ones, such as Best Friends and Noah's Ark. Anyone can apply for a not-for-profit number - it doesn't make them legit.

But I've been active in animal rescue since I was (sorry, that's 14, not 16) so if you have any more questions ask away. I can't say I live in PA however, so you'll probably have to do some research there yourself 😛

You might check w/your local BBB~it won't exactly tell you who kicks but it WILL tell you if anyone's lodged a complaint against a comapny as a scamster.

I was looking for some local rabbits shelters,but no luck I did find one in California called save a bunny It looks like they do real good out there
