Samus Unmasked
Alright children... sit back and behold my gamer wisdom that I shall bestow upon thee.
Metroid Prime (a truely excellent game, more than likely one of the greatest for the 'Cube- right up there next to Wind Waker) has put good ole' Samus in such divine 3D rendering the game feels like you're watching a movie. (They are actually working on a Metroid movie, BTW.)
At the end, if you've accumulated 75% of the game's pick ups, you get a very small glimpse of Samus as she reflects on her latest adventure sans the helmet to her Power Suit. However, if you log all the games entries (some 180ish) and pick up all ( and I mean every last goddamn one- had to play the game 4 times before I did it) you unlock a whole gallery filled with Samus Aran fully rendered, including close ups on her face in both front, profile, and three-quarters view.
Cheshire did a great job with this pic, and really close to how Nintendo portrayed her at the end. Blonde hair, blue eyes, bad ass.
**Here's some extra credit** All of the Metroid games offer some reward to the players by knowing passwords, collecting pick ups, or rushing through the game faster than the speed of light. Metroid Prime stated, it's probably one of the easier (and that's still pretty tough) to do. In Super Metroid you got a shot of Samus Aran in a bikini at the end if you could beat the game under 3 hours. I can't beat it in any under 6 or 7, but my little brother has it down to an hour flat.
In the very first Metroid, you could enter the password "Justin Bailey" to play through the game with Samus Clad in high heels, a pink bikini, and green hair- keep in mind this was an 8-Bit game. Contrary to popular belief, "Justin Bailey" was not a producer of the game (just about every name in the credits is Japanese) rather it was a play on words. A "Bailey" was a type of bathing suit popular way back when when Samus first landed on Zebes. So it should be read more like "just in bailey" or "just in bathing suit" and Viola, 8-Bit Bliss.
Wow, did I just spluge some geekiness or what? Don't get me started on my D&D. 😉
