I love Cribbage, but mention it to the average Texan and you will likely be met with a blank stare or look of confusion. Here, Dominoes games like Moon and 42 rule. I learned the game in the early 1980's while living in Houston. I knew two guys from Pennsylvania, Joe and Skinner, and a guy from Michigan, Mitch, who rented a three bedroom house on the northwest side. Later Earl, also from Pennsylvania joined the cast of characters. It must have been Christmas Day 1985. Everyone else had gone home for the holidays, and Earl and I sat around that day drinking Wild Turkey 101 and playing Cribbage. I was on fire and cleaned him out. The next day I bought the biggest bottle of Wild Turkey I could find and he won most of his money back, which was fine. I didn't care, we were friends. It's been years since I've found anyone who knows what the game is, and I miss it.
