Just wondering if I'm the only one.

Btw, as bad as we played in that Oakland preseason game, Morgan looks like he's going to be a solid receiver for us.

...if we only had a quarterback that could get him the ball. At this point J.T. O'sullivan will probably get the start because of his familiarity with Martz's offense, but I seriously don't think that he can get us to the playoffs. Unfortunately, though, he's looking better than Alex Smith.

I am.

Alex Smith's going to start. Unfortunately he's the best they have.

I was so happy when I learned they had signed Martz to be the offensive coordinator... then I remembered they didn't have a quarterback.

Good move signing Spikes. He still has some good football left in him.

Right here, though they take a #2 spot to my Bears. I have a feeling that Smith will win the battle, though I don't get much coverage of the niners out here in Chicago. I expect the defense to have a great season this year, the signing of TKO really provides depth to a LB corps that has some good talent behind it. I was also a HUGE fan of the drafting of Chilo Rachel at Guard, this kid is the real deal and will be a starter for years to come. Well I guess I wasn't that thrilled....I really wanted the Bears to grab him.

The 49ers were my team of choice before Baltimore got a team again. I loved them in the 80s/90s when they had those powerhouse teams.

Crystal and Bald are also 49er fans. I personally used to hate them when the Saints were in the same division, but have come to like them more than most of the other teams.

Being a Saints fan I know a little bit about JT O'Sullivan since we drafted him and spent his first couple of years with us. The fans for the most part really liked him and he played with some heart. He just became a casualty of too many QB's, although I would have preferred to keep him over one or two since. I think he lead his NFL Europe team to the championship a few summers back.

As you can tell in my sig pic, I think Deion Sanders BEST year was the year he was a 49er BABY!!!!! I am a 49er fan and man.......We have some serious work to do.

I was NEVER a fan of Alex Smith. HE SUCKS. Period. End of discussion. I was pissed off when we drafted him instead of Aaron Rodgers who wanted to be a 49er. Alex Smith was the product of a "gimmick" offense at Utah. I have a friend at work and we both were cussing a lot when he was drafted. If they weren't going to take Rodgers, they should have taken Braylon Edwards considering we STILL don't have a playmaker at receiver.

I still want to fire Mike Nolan. Let's face it. He sucks too. Plus, I am still pissed off at him for not allowing Jerry Rice to TRY OUT for the team after he left the Raiders. Tell me fans, who the hell else was on the team that Jerry Rice couldn't win the 3rd receiver spot on the team? Huh? I wanted to fire Nolan on the spot. Then he disrespected Rice by saying he could retire as a 49er by signing a 1 day contract. Nolan can kiss my ass.

Hell, ownership can kiss my ass. I miss Eddie Debartolo.

I do like the defense though. Patrick Willis is a STUD. Adding Takeo Spikes was huge. With Manny Lawson on the outside, the LB crew will be quite formidable. Nate Clements and Walt Harris are serviceable corners, but we are still hurting at safety and D-line.

Offensively, Mike Martz will help the offense, but let's pray he allows Frank Gore to run the ball. Isaac Bruce is a great veteran receiver and I think Bryant Johnson may become something special.

I still think we won't make the playoffs with Smith as the starter. I think Shaun Hill should be QB, but knowing my luck, Smith will start and we will go 4-12.

I miss Eddie Debartolo......

Yep, we're pretty much on the same page. I'm not looking forward to yet another season with Bozo the Nolan, but the Yorks seem to like him despite all evidence to the contrary. Smith is arena football material at best. He's been hailed as the golden boy by Nolan and company for far too long. ...and the whole Rice debacle STILL pisses me off.
I'm kinda looking forward to MartyBall, but at the same time, we're not the Rams, we're the 49ers! Call me a purist, but I still think that we should be running a version of the WCO.

Our defense does look good this year.

You're right about the offense. While Martz's offense is one of the greatest ever put on paper, he doesn't have the quarterback to make it work. JT O'Sullivan may be the best QB for his offense, but the higher ups are going to push Alex Smith into that spot. With him at the helm, the WCO is what they need. One thing Smith does well (and yes, it's the only thing he does well) is throw on the run. He should be running the same offense that made Chad Pennington a star. He's not talented enough to make Martz's offense work. Hopefully Mike and Mike see that before it's too late.
