In light of the recent posts on horror filmsl is anyone else looking forward to the HALLOWEEN remake? I'm glad they got Rob Zombie behind it because I know he will do it justice. I'm also glad it's not on of those other Hollywood directors looking for a cheap cash-in at a remake.

Personally most horror remakes I have seen were horrible and I felt should have never been made; but HALLOWEEN looks way different. How do you feel about it?

malcom mcdowell(although i love the other works he has done) will be a poor dr. loomis, nothing can ever top donald plesance(rip)

Will have to see, just making a movie more violent and such doesnt make it a better movie and i really dont know what needs to be changed from the original verson. But it is a bonus that we get to see sherri moon again

I'm not so sure about Rob Zombie either. I know he has a lot of respect for the movie and wants to do a good job, but his other movies have really sucked. Like seriously badly sucked. And that's coming from someone that can usually enjoy a bad movie.

Granted House of 1000 Corpses was a piece of garbage, but The Devil's Rejects was a HUGE improvement. Even Ebert and Roeper gave it 2 thumps way up. Then again, they gave 2 thumbs way up to The Hills Have Eyes remake.

I personally enjoyed houses more than rejects

I highly doubt I'll see it.

As much as I love Malcolm McDowell, I loathe modern Hollywood and Rob Zombie equally. I have a feeling that jackass will take all the suspense and atmosphere that the first film had, and replace it with buckets of gore (which isn't a bad thing, but not the pinnacle to define good horror) and quick, snap-away "ZOMG WE'RE SO KEWL! LAWL LAWL LAWL" MTV music video style camera shots.

yeah....I'm a little jaded as you can tell. I'll stick with Carpenter's version and keep patiently waiting for a good horror film to come out. I heard Clive Barker will be involved with the Hellraiser remake, perhaps that will be my hope.

Oh yes, and no offense to anyone that wants to see this. I'm just extremely picky when it comes to horror.

You and me both brother! I don't like it much either, but as long as people keep shelling out cash for crappy movies, then progress will never be made.

Ok here's a few thoughts...

1) Does Halloween *really* need to be re-made? How much better are you planning to do than the one we already have?

2) Rob seems like a pretty creative guy, and I'm just wondering if he is ever going to do a movie that's *not* a rip off of someone else's work. (house of 1000 corpses was a clear rip of texas chainsaw and Devils rejects reeked of hills have eyes)

3) if you absolutely have to do a remake of a movie...pick a sucky one that way we won't be disappointed when it's a turd. We'll go in expecting that. And if by some twist of fate it comes out good, think of how pleasantly surprised we'll all be.

while im a huge horror fan, and a big fan of rob zombie's music, i am a bit skeptical about this .....im hoping it will be an awesome re-imagining ( or whatever the current "remake" catch phrase of the moment is...), but the original had so much of its atmosphere BECAUSE it was a low budget film, and i dont think any actor could ever come close to the intensity of donald pleasance as Dr. Loomis, that role was almost made for him....but im going to remain optimistic, and we'll see ...... :imouttahe

You're right; Donald Pleasance IS Dr. Loomis. Nobody else could pull that off. Sometimes I wondered if he was actually crazier than Michael Myers.

The orginal Halloween is and will always be my favorite horror movie of all time. I wonder also why try to reinvent the wheel, but Rob has described in many interviews that he has a different vision of the movie and I look forward to seeing it. We all know that the original is great because it truly is scary, no pop up scares or scores of blood, just a well made tale of terror. I hope this movie has that feel at least.

I saw the trailer also and also have some reservations about it. One aspect I do like is that the guy playing adult Michael is 7 feet tall, that in itself makes for a very imposing charachter...let's hope it's good!
