anyone ever have shingles?

i have a little case going on right now. one spot on my forehead that looks like my wife cuffed me on the head with a pan.lol
anyway Doc says it'll take 2-3 weeks to heal.

I've never had them. I heard someone on the radio say that having shingles was more painful than being shot during the Vietnam war.

My mother got them...they are extremely painful and uncomfortable..hope yours don't get that way Jeff..it's a virus in the chicken pox family..did you have the chicken pox as a child? i did and it was a total nightmare..

I never had chicken pox as a kid so I know that I'm going to get slammed with them. My grandfather had them. It's not fun.

if it gets too bad, see your doctor for a prescription for some acylovir. It's an antiviral drug that works against the family of viri that chicken pox/shingles comes from.

I think there's a vaccine for herpes zoster (shingles).

FWIW, when I had chicken pox, my mother bathed me in a starch solution. I faintly recall it working somewhat decently to stem the itching.

Unfortunately, there's no vaccine for shit on a shingle.

I'm happy to tell you that you won't get shingles if you didn't have chickenpox previously. Shingles is a reactivated version of the chickenpox virus, which lies dormant in the nervous system after chickenpox resolves.

If you had chicken pox as a kid, you'll only get shingles if your immune system is weakned enough to not be able to fight off the virus. Otherwise you are safe.

Ahhh... I did not know that. Thanks for the heads up Mistress Val. That is actually a relief. Now I just need to stay away from any crumb-crunchers who might have The Pox. lol

Who ever said that TT is only for Tickling. It is chocked full of valuable life experiences.
