Anyone here live near Orlando???

Hi everyone, I'm kinda thinking about moving to Orlando, but I wanted to see if anyone who's lived or lives there can give me a heads-up on the area. The job I'd take is East Orlando, just east of the airport. I've heard good and bad things about the city, like crime is crazy, and some parts are just nasty and unsafe. Can anyone help me out and give me a real take on the area? Thanks!

Well, we don't know where you're from now, but if you move to Orlando, be ready for hurricanes and for insects that outweigh you by 20 lbs. 😀

On a more serious note, a Google search on Orlando produces the usual promotional crap, not much useful stuff.

im from orlando but not by the airport.. its an alright place i guess, but yea you do have to watch out for some areas.. the closer to downtown you get, the worse it gets.. but its not all bad.. i mean, its pretty straightforward.. if you look at a place and the area looks nasty and unsafe, it probably is.. there are some great areas to live, but there are also some not so great areas to live.. as far as crime, yea it can get kind of bad, but its not RIDICULOUS.. i cant really say too much since i dont live in that area (smaller city south of downtown), but ive spent some time there going to concerts and stuff.. if you want you can PM me and tell me like where you are looking at specifically and i can see what the deal is.. id probably be familiar with the area

Thanks for responding, I'd be looking near Lake Underhill Road, by the hospital. I've only been West of the Airport in orlando and Kissimee, never drove through the eastern side. Some people tell me it's like Detroit, and I've lived outside of Camden and Newark NJ so it's not like I'm coming from a crime free area, lol.

hm.. well if its the hospital im thinking of, i spent a bit of time down there like a year ago.. the area seemed pretty give or take.. some places looked good, some places you were like '...wow'.. so id say just find a place that looks like a good area, or im sure they have something online that you can find out details for the area and things like that.. let me know if you need help and ill see what i can find
