i was wondering if anyone who might be on paxil has discovered a change in themselves since beginning to take the med. i had to take it a year from this last may for depression and anxiety. i am still on it. i am on the lowest dosage. i noticed a change starting about six months into the med. i am more careless and reckless than i was before. an example of this, much more open like in here for instant, and also giving my phone number out haphazarderly. its taken away my anxiety, almost maybe too much. i dont worry about things anymore which is a plus and also it keeps my weight down , but has anyone else had this happen to them while on paxil? someone told me i need to get off because of this very reason, but i'm afraid to. i do know one cant just quit, that you must do it gradually. thanks for any feed back

Talk to your doctor about these changes, Isabeau, if you haven't done so yet. Good luck.

I'm currently taking Effexor...it's been pretty effective, even though I DESPISE anything that makes you drowsy...

Thats what starbucks is for though eh? =P

thanks hon i know i should but heck what with it keeping my weight down, i really dont know what to do. that is one hell of a plus. i mean i exercise but wow with paxil i have even lost weight, and weigh less now than i did in my early twenties. which is a good thing definitely

isabeau but of course i am wondering about thechanges

Hey Isabeau,
I was on paxil a few years ago for this heart condition I have. Mitro valve prolasp....anxiety, caffiene, stress all contribute to it, makes you feel like you can't breathe.
The paxil did help and I don't recall any of the side effects you mentioned...it was a time released pill (cr).
I wouldn't take any chances with these meds....if I were you, like someone posted, just call your dr, maybe this is only a temporary thing and they wont take you off. I know what you mean about the weight loss...I went on BC...and the weight just came off, now I don't want to go off them and my dr said maybe I can be on it another year....the mere thought makes me crindge...ha ha. Anyway, a phone call to your dr wont hurt....good luck girl!

thanks trix i know i should but dang i dont want to risk not being able to get off the couch again, which is why i started the paxil in the first place. but i might not do that today, after all the circumstances were rather awful back when i first went into my depression. mine isnt time released. thanks for your advice xoxo

maybe you can ask about the time release, it may help, and I didn't gain weight on it.
