Okay, if you're reading this, you probably saw it, then. You, know, the "worst movie ever made", the one where the highly illegal alien wears a gorilla suit and diving helmet.... okay. So, anyway, I saw it years ago and saw it again recently. Does anyone know any details about the film? Why I ask: I have the movie on VHS from Rhino, and there's a part where the Ro-man grabs at the Earth woman, Alice, and tears off her top! What is even odder, a black bar suddenly appears across her chest!
So's I see all this, and my hair's standing up like Linus when Lucy steals his blanket. This move was a sci-fi film made in 1953! They didn't do that kind of thing back then! I mean, you had the Breen Code, the Kefauver hearings, etc.; besides, although exploitation films existed, this was more a a matinee film, and the really sexy stuff came from Europe anyway. WHAT was a space gorilla doing rippin' off a woman's top back in '53? I never saw Dr. Sarizawa going after Emiko like that in Godzilla..... Steve McQueen left Natalie Wood well enough alone in The Blob.... what's the deal? Was it an accident and they only did 1 take? Was this written into the script? Was this a European audience version that I have (Hollywood DID sex it up for European audiences on occasion)? Curse France all you want, you can see boobs there without shelling out for cable. Anyone know the story?
And then - what was the black bar doing popping up over her chest? That wasn't in the original film (I'd guess). Why did they put that in on a home video release?
Anyone know their B-movie history? What was all this about? This has been bugging me; nothing I've ever read about Robot Monster mentions the origin of this scene. I'm not losing sleep over it, but it's only a matter of time. I mean look at me - I'm taking time out of real life to type stuff on a TICKLING website!
