On December 24 1968 Apollo 8 Astronauts Frank Borman, James Lovell and William Anders entered lunar orbit. I will never forget watching this on that long ago Christmas Eve.

Yup, people don't often realize just how many risks NASA took to get us to the moon before the Russians.

Astronauts are literally the bravest people I can think of aside from fire fighters and charity workers in war zones.
