Well, it looks like the good teams are separating themselves from the rest of the pack. Looking at the Big Picture, do you think the Bears are as good as thier record? They've always had great defense, but now they are a legit deep threat as well.
Personally, I would be very close to saying the Bears are, as of now, the best overall team in football. The only thing that might not make that an easy 100% decision is the teams they've played...and the fact that Minnesota basically lost thier game against Chicago more than the Bears won it. They have wins against the likes of Buffalo and Green Bay...so does everyone else. However, they did manhandle Seattle. Was this a fluke or a look at great things to come?
If not Chicago, there are very few I'd consider the best in football. Conventional Wisdom says Indy, but they came this close to losing to the winless Titans. The Colts' utter lack of a run defense is starting to show, and when the season gets older, Peyton Manning will not be able to carry the team on his back as he has been. That being said, they always find a way, don't they?
Speaking of which, the Patriots could be a case for best team in football, mostly for that very reason. No matter what happens to this team or who they lose, it still all comes together. They aren't really great at any certain aspect of the game, but are solid enough at all of them to win games. Will it hold throughout the whole season?
Cincy took a beating against the Pats, but overall I think a good case could be made that they may be the best team in at least the AFC. What I saw in the Pats game was more of a fluke bad game than any sign of bad things to come. These guy have a great defense and Pro-Bowl caliber players at almost all offensive positions. However, like Indy, the run defense could come back to haunt them, especially in a division with Pittsburgh and Baltimore.
....or is it Baltimore? These guys, to me, seem to be the Bears of the AFC.
