sigh i had one and the babydoll one too but as with all childhood things it went out sometime this spring when we finally cleaned the attic

Things were not that different here in Portugal lol

It was a blast to wake up 8:00am just to watch saturday morning cartoons...they´d go like 4 hours straight ending just the same time our mother finished lunch lol

It was a great time! the world was still a safer place, I remember my parents gave me my house key at 8 years old and at 9 years old I´d go alone from school to house and no one really felt it was dangerous. Actually, at 7 years old the people from school used to walk together home with no parents and no one was afraid.

You could actually go out at night being a young teenager all alone, walk with your friends down the street, play on parks and climb to trees all at night. I used to get out after dinner to play on the park till 10 or 11pm.

You could walk on your school and on any park without finding somo needle or worst things on the corners.

We would play with our friends, create lots of games cause there were no computers or playstations or anything near that.....untill of course the first computers with tape recorders apeared lol aaahhhh the joy ot was to ear those crazy sounds for some 5 or 10 minutes before the all thing crashed lol many around here must know how we would hit the keyboard for not being able to play a single game on a sunny afternoon 😛

Do you remember those adventure books were you woud fight monsters and choose your way along the story??? 🙂

great times!!!!

How could you forget?

#1 You would say WHERE'S THE BEEF?

#2 You would go up to a drive thru window (not at Wendy's),honk the horn and yell WHERE'S THE BEEF?😛

The only one of these that stereotypes me as an 80s child was number 39, I believe. My cousin is about to turn 18 later this month, and when he was very little, (I cant remember exactly which birthday, perhaps on his second or third birthday), my aunt did have a party for him at Mcdonalds, and I went to it. That was actually one of the only things on that list that "stereotypes" me as a 70s or 80s child as you say. Since Iam 34, Iam a 70s and 80s child, but not specifically because of many things listed on that list. In my case, I qualify as a 70s and 80s child even just due to one thing on that list.

One thing I didn't see was that you thought a mullet was sexy.

Prolly because if you were a *child* back then you didn't think anything was sexy yet...😛

Here's a couple more...

If you've ever played any hand-held electronic games.

If you know the words to far too many Bon Jovi songs.

If you've ever channel surfed and you stop when the movie "Flashdance" is on and say "hey, this was a good movie!"

My friend just sent me this the other day...It's called "You know you were an 70s or 80s girl if..."

You wore a rainbow shirt that was half-sleeves, and the rainbow went up one sleeve, across your chest, and down the other. You made baby chocolate cakes in your Easy Bake Oven and washed them down with snow cones from your Snoopy Snow Cone Machine. You had that Fisher Price Doctor's Kit with a stethoscope that actually worked. You owned a bicycle with a banana seat and a basket. You even owned roller skates with metal wheels. You thought Gopher from Love Boat was cute (Admit it!) You had nightmares after watching Fantasy Island. You had rubber boots for rainy/snowy days - remember Moon boots (you then advanced to Duck Shoes in the 80's) You had either a "bowl cut" or "pixie," not to mention the Dorothy Hamill" because your Mom was sick of braiding your hair. How traumatic when people thought you were a boy. Your Holly Hobbie sleeping bag was your most prized possession. You wore a poncho, gauchos, and knickers. You begged Santa for the electronic game, Simon. You had the Donnie and Marie dolls with those pink and purple shredded outfits. You spent hours out back on your metal swing set with the trapeze. You had homemade ribbon barrettes in every imaginable color. You even had a pair of Doctor Scholl's sandals (the ones with hard sole & the buckle). You wanted to be Laura Ingalls Wilder really bad; you wore that Little House on the Prairie-inspired plaid, ruffle shirt with the high neck in at least one school picture; and you despised Nellie Olson! You wanted your first kiss to be at the roller rink. Your hairstyle was described as having "wings" and you kept it "pretty" with the comb you kept in your back pocket. You know who Strawberry Shortcake is, as well as her friends, Blueberry Muffin and Huckleberry Pie. You carried a Muppets lunch box to school. You and your girlfriends would fight over which of the Dukes of Hazzard was your boyfriend. Every now and then "It's a Hard Knock Life" from the movie, "Annie" will pop into your brain and you can't stop singing it the whole day. YOU had Star Wars action figures, too. It was a big event in your household each year when the "Wizard of Oz" would come on TV. Your mom would break out the popcorn and sleeping bags! You even asked your Magic-8 ball the question: "Who will I marry. Shaun Cassidy, Leif Garrett, or Rick Springfield?" You completely wore out your Grease, Saturday Night Fever, and Fame soundtrack albums. You tried to do lots of arts and crafts, like yarn and Popsicle-stick God's eyes of those weird potholders made on a plastic loom. You made Shrinky-Dinks! You used to tape record songs off the radio by holding your portable tape player up to the speaker. You couldn't wait to get the free animal poster that came when you ordered books from the Weekly Reader book club. You learned everything you needed to know about girl issues from Judy Blume books (Are you there God, It's me, Margaret.) You thought Olivia Newton John's song "Physical" was about aerobics. You wore friendship pins on your tennis shoes, or shoelaces with heart or rainbow designs. You wanted to be a Solid Gold dancer. You had a Big Wheel with a brake on the side, and a Sit-n-Spin. You had subscriptions to Dynamite and Tiger Beat.
XOXO

Although born in the magical year 1957.....

2) Never.
3) I can and still do.
4) That's a big negatory, good buddy! (Ever say that?)
5) Was an individual contractor.
6) Nope. But what about the Peculiar Purple Pieman of Porkupine Peak!
7) Sad, but true!
8) Stop! Hammer time! (I don't WANT to touch this!)
9) Um....yes, but it was about tickling!
10) Please! I'm still getting over the Fraggle Rock confession!
11) What tales?
12) Oh sure! Bugs and Daffy, and al the other looney toons, Atom Ant, Popeye, George of the Jungle, Dudley Do Right et al.
13) Nope
14) Nope
15) Who didn't?
16-20) No.
21) Ah, Danial-san, Let's go get some Arnold burgers!
22) I AM a Goonie!

Anyway, you get the idea.

I was born in the 80's but I remember a lot of that stuff...dunno why

Yeah, me too. I had all kinds of Popples stuff. I always remembered playing Oregon Trail in class too (all of my people always died by being eaten), but I thought no one else in the country ever heard of that game.

Popples!!! OMG i love those and i used to play Oregon trail as well I only made it once to Oregon every other time i was killed

Anyone remember the hand-held "Time Out" games? One of them was called "Fireman, Fireman." I think they were only available for a year, or so. It's a pretty obscure early 80s reference.

I still say you're an 80's child if you still passed the Dutchie on the left hand side😛

How bout Coleco Vision???? And Lite Brite???

I had a ColecoVision! I just sold the game system and all the games last year. That, along with Atari 5200, was the first video game system with advanced graphics and memory. It was much better than Intellivision.

I'm almost positive that Lite Brite first became available in the 70s. I remember my brother and sister each getting a Lite Bright for Christmas when I was around four. Then I inherited both Lite Brights as "hand-me-down" toys.

I love talking about old toys. I think they were actually better than the stuff that's available for kids nowadays. It doesn't matter if modern-day toys are more technologically advanced. Sometimes less is more.

Just imagine what kind of toys will be available for kids 50 years from now. They'll probably have little mini rocket ship so kids can fly to the moon 🙄

I'm sure nearly everyone will remember possibly the greatest old toy of all - the Evil Kneivel doll, the motor cycle and the ramp thing that you cracked up to make the motorcycle go! Now that was a toy! The plastic motorcycle was actually built like a small Sherman Tank. I sent that thing flying off my porch onto the cement driveway countless times and it never broke. The flimsy exhaust pipes broke off, but the rest of it remained intact.

Oh Lord

NOW I really feel old! 😱

How can anyone forget tho:

* you wore fabric "scrunchies" in your hair

" You wore. "parachute" or " Flag" pants( GOD were those UGGGLY! 😱 )

at least in New Jersey

" You made your folks spend ridiculous amounts of dough on Zcavarichi" jeans"

Ghostie

*Quickly throwing out her

pair of gashed jeans" 😉

Tho MY jeans were usually sliced and diced as a result of either getting ripped when I fell due to supream Klutziness OR from getting caught in my mom;s acient washer

At least that's NOT as bad as New Kids on the Block duvet covers and sheet sets

Was that the same bike that sprayed out sparks when it you let it loose? It looked like a jet cycle....

... with a five dollar allowance you could still buy a comic book, a couple packs of hockey cards, pop and some candy 😀

Now one pack of cards or one comic book is pushing 5 bucks :sowrong:

No crap! Last week, out of curiosity, I picked up some of the new X titles, and was staggered by the three dollar cover prices.
