The funniest part of tonight's SNL, which was really not very funny unfortunately, was when Ashlee Simpson came out to play her second number and they accidentally started playing the lip-synch track for the song she had already quote-unquote sung during her first number! She stood there looking completely flummoxed for about ten seconds, then (honest to god) did a little jig and walked off stage. Then to make matters worse she tried to spin it during the goodbyes by saying "My band started playing the wrong song."

Nowadays? They've been doing this since TV was born. The night I went to Saturday Night Live, though, the group didn't lip sync. Instead, the problem was that the acoustics in Studio 8A are so awful that it all sounded like muffled noise. When the group's first hit wound up being played on the radio shortly after that, I didn't recognize it. Lip-sync on Saturday Night Live's a more recent trend, anyway. Back in the old days, more often than not, you were seeing a live performance, the format and the atmosphere and the philosophy of the show dictated this. The truth is, it's a lip sync world. We have lip sync performers, lip sync politicians, lip sync commercials. We have to live with it, I guess.

I seem to recall that The Band, Queen, The Kinks, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Ray Charles, Tom Petty, Outkast.....and the list goes on.....had NO trouble remembering what the second song was that they had to play.
Was Ashley's band trying to tell her something, or can she really NOT😱 sing?

No, she was making an excuse when she said that. Her band was fine, the programmers accidentally started playing the same song as her first number, so to cover up she said that her band had started playing the wrong song. In actuality they weren't playing anymore than she was singing.

And ashlee wants to criticize Hilary Duff? Seems to me she best worry about her own self. Maybe she should spend more time getting her own band, equipment or whatever else she uses to pretend to sing in order before talking trash about someone else.

I, too, laughed hysterically when it happened--especially at the nervous jig she did before walking offstage. I felt bad for 5 seconds, then was outraged when she put the blame on her band! I would have pimp-slapped her off-camera and QUIT! She should have 'saved face', shut up and gone with Jude Law's simple, "things sometimes go awry during a live show..." (or something to the effect) explanation.

I never listen to Top 40 radio, so while I had no idea what this kid sounded like, I was curious to see if her voice matched Jessica's amazing octave range...man, was I *dissapointed*! This kid's voice is so bland and colorless, it almost seemed like she was talking through the song verses. I sat there wondering, "And her record's sold HOW MANY copies? Who's buying this crap?". Nowadays they'll give a record deal to ANY idiot with a cute ass...

The irony of it all!

Lip-synching on a show called Saturday Night LIVE???? They've made enough money over the years to get the acoustics together. There's simply no excuse for performers faking it on a show that's supposed to be LIVE!!!

The girl is as talentless as her sister-sorry, but I've seen more talent in a high-school talent show! She can't sing, she couldn't act, and now this. What a waste of film and recording equipment!!
