Ask Space Bauhinia #13 A Question?

Yea very much. Mr Pine Tree loves helping widdle furry animals. 🙂
I am very glad to hear that. Here in Central Park, I see mostly gray squirrels and a few black squirrels. What color squirrels do you have living in Mr. Pine Tree? 😀 😛

Now that you are getting bigger, will the colder weather out there bother you as much? 🙂

Those would probably be starlings 🙂 We have some ravens around but they dont seem to nest anywhere around here.

Ravens are fine birds and it is a shame that they don't nest there any more. 🙁
But starlings are fine birds, too. 😀 😛
Are there hummingbirds who live in Mr. Pine Tree?

If you could play any role in a science fiction movie, what would it be? 😀

There might be. Hummingbirds have very small nests like the size of a quarter so its very hard to see them.

I woulds say the movie "Silent Running". Its a movie about a future where there are no plants and trees left on earth :cry1: and the few plants left are cared for on a space station. In that movie I could be one of the trees and and I could help them take care of all the other widdle plants and trees. 🙂

Yes, hummingbirds are very small and it would be very hard to see their nests.
Here we have a terrible heat wave now. How is the weather there today? 😀 😛

I will have to watch that movie. Are there any types of plants or tress that act like bullies to other plants and trees?

Its very hot and humid here as well. I think Daddy said there is a heat wave across most of the country.

There are some trees and plants that are parasitic and can will suck the life out of another plant or tree so they can survive. The Strangler Fig is one such tree.

They all share a common "strangling" growth habit that is found in many tropical forest species, particularly of the genus Ficus.[1] This growth habit is an adaptation for growing in dark forests where the competition for light is intense. These plants begin life as hemiepiphytes, when their seeds, often bird-dispersed, germinate in crevices atop other trees. These seedlings grow their roots downward and envelop the host tree while also growing upward to reach into the sunlight zone above the canopy.[2][3]

An original support tree can sometimes die, so that the strangler fig becomes a "columnar tree" with a hollow central core.

Most fig trees are very nice. Daddy has a old fig tree and he makes lots of fruit for Daddy and the widdle birdies. He very nice. 🙂

I am sorry to hear that you have a heat wave there, too. 🙁

Are you getting lots of fertilizer lately? 😀 😛

Hello Space Bauhinia, in your opinion which is worse, caterpillar or kissing bug?
