At about what age did you stop looking forward to your Birthday? Or do you still ???

I was just wondering if it was any different for men than women? I have several women friends in there late 20`s & early to mid 30`s than revert back to an eight year old girl when Birthday time rolls around....I think that is great by the way. Just curious to see what others think; I know already that some avoid Birthdays like the plaque and just wanted to know if other people still get excited?

I still look forward to mine. 46 is coming up in a few weeks.

hmm well yea i get excited..my uncle still sends me girlie birthday cards lol..and my inlaws always send money..i look at it this way..when you reach your birthday, at least you are still alive..i'm proud of my age..no need not to be..i think it's cool that i still don't look or act my age..i hope that will still be true when i reach my seventies..however i do not want to live too far past seventy..

After age twenty five, I stopped giving a rat's ass.

After I hit 25 and was still single - haven't even been on a date in the longest time, not a real might-just-lead-to-a-relationship type date. Not even a blind date. I stopped looking forward to getting older.

I admit, I like the gift part. I usually ask a group of people to go in together on one major thing so they only have to put out $5-$10 apiece and I can get something I normally can't afford. Like this year I asked for Victoria's Secret gift cards. (So I can get just one good bra. I managed to get two.) A couple of years ago I got enough Wal-Mart cards I was able to finally get a digital camera.

If I could get the gifts without drawing closer to death, I'd be happier. Yes, I like material things. I love clutter and objects.

:blaugh: Hello! :blaugh:
I have a group of friends that look forward to each other's birthdays. We always celebrate with a cake and ice cream at the same house throughout the year.
The fun part about this experience is that I consistently see friends that I might not see otherwise. I enjoy giving gag gifts, and I like having dinner where everyone brings something.
When I was a child, my family didn't really celebrate birthdays with parties, so when I began doing it as an adult with friends, it took some getting used to because I'd never had anyone throw me a party.
I must say that the one thing I hate about these gatherings is that we sing Happy Birthday. I mean why must we? And everyone sings out of key on purpose so it's hilarious. It's tradition to have the birthday person's picture taken in front of the cake during the song, and mine never fails to suck because I laugh so hard.
:bouncybou :bouncybou :bouncybou :bouncybou :bouncybou

I'm 40 in a couple months but everyone thinks I'm in my 20s still, so that's nice. Probably because I act about 12! :jester:
XOXO

I think 25 is the last birthday I looked forward too. You were young but not too young, but you definitely weren't old. I'm only 28 now, but wish I was still 25. *sigh*

I am still looking forward to my birthday. I always take a day off work as a gift to myself and spend it with someone special, starting with a good breakfast in one of the best hotels in town and then just having a great, fun day. :xpulcy:
I am not having any issues with my age ( I'll be 33 soon) so far, as I do not feel and sometimes not behave like a grown-up anyway at all. :bouncybou
As for gifts, sure, they're nice, but that is not soo important to me. I rather receive little gifts now and then, knowing the person giving them to me, really wanted to, not felt like "having" to because of this special occasion.

22. last semester it was like "woohoo, look at me, I'm 22 now. I should go find a practice room to celebrate in with 12 hours of practice"

I still look forward to it. I'll be the big 5-0 next April and I've been told I still look about 35.

same here..i mean i'm already fifty..but people tell me i look like my mid thirties..

I've never made a big deal out of my birthdays, even when I was a little kid, I didn't particularly care.

Really don't get too excited about them, but then to me everyday is a holiday.

I celebrate every year and buy myself at least one present. A two-generation tradition dictates I have a professional photograph done this year (age 43). My older sister led the third generation and refused. But, I plan to convince her to go with me. We'll take some separate and some together like we did when we were in our 20s. I just have to wait for the right moment to get her to agree. I'll know it when I see it. After all, I've known her all my life! :jester:

It's a celebration , but not like when I was a kid . I still like having a party for it .

It stopped being fun three years ago when i turned 30, but its still a decent excuse to get drunk! :xpulcy:

I always look forward to mine, then again I haven't had as many as most of the members here. :evilha:

21st. As far as I'm concerned, thats the last one to look forward to. (the only one to look forward to, hehe)

I never stop looking forward to my bday......it's another excuse to drink. Not that I need a excuse...... 😎

I'd have to say that this year, I am not looking forward to it. I will be turning 24, and it will be my first birthday alone without my loved ones.

Looking forward to birthdays was always so much fun. But you know you've finally hit maturity when the year rolls around that you eagerly anticipate getting clothes instead of toys 😛

I stopped looking forward to birthdays at about age 35. I started disliking them at age 50. But consider the althernative. 😛

I still do

I still look forward to, and enjoy, my birthday. I always have. I consider each birthday to be a very precious gift right from God Himself, and it is also my special day! I will be 53 at the end of next April. I hope that I will have many more. I have known way too many people who will never have that privilege, including friends that never made it to their high school graduation...

Sincerely,
Bob

The number is actually pretty meaningless to me, as i will never (as far as i know) actually ACT my age :cool2:

But I like using my birthday as an excuse to get everybody to go out on the town for a good time. This year for my birthday, with the cooperation of my radio station, I'm doing "Sean Michael's Birthday- Ten Bars in Ten Hours."

We did this a couple of years ago, and it was really cool. We posted the bar itinerary on our website, and loads of people were showing up at specific times and bars to hang out with the radio gang.

I'm just glad they all didn't insist on buying me birthday drinks....my insurance doesn't cover dialysis :jester: :jester: :jester:
