As a big headline on the front page of.

www.braves.com.

The Atlanta Braves officially named Brian Snitker their manager today.

I actually think this is a good move, as the Braves did improve under Snitker.

Congratulations to Mr Snitker on being named the official manager of the Braves.

Hopefully the team wll continue to improve in 2017 as they move into their new ballpark, Suntrust Field, in suburban Atlanta.

Interesting move by the Braves. If I read correctly, Atlanta offered him a one year contract and brought in Ron Washington to coach third base. Those who have followed the story will note that Washington was one of three people the team interviewed for the job, the others being former Padres skipper Bud Black and Snitker, who got the job.

Here's what I think. The Braves probably really wanted to hire Ron Washington. But, Snitker, having been in the Braves organization for years and coached many of the players when they were in the minors, is VERY popular among the players. Plus he did pretty darn well helping this team get turned around during the end of the season. My guess is that the front office did not want to disturb whatever positive energy the team had going into the offseason, so they hired the guy the players love while bringing in someone who can replace him if things do not work out.

We'll see how things go. Personally I was hoping Bud Black would get the job becasue I think it's time the Braves look outside of their organization for a change, but I am willing to give Snikert a chance. The players all love him, so that counts for something

Agreed, Soda.

Snitker's contract is a one year contract for 2017, and an option for 2018.

Hopefully, the positive energy during the last half of the season, will continue.

With the new ballpark opening next year, it would be nice to see the Braves to at least "compete", and perhaps finish with a 500 record.

IMO, this idea of the new stadium.....well....it ain't that popular here in Atlanta. We'll see how it fares next year..... the stadium, etc will be done by then.....?
