What do the baseball fans of the forum think of the Atlanta Braves winter additions to the roster? I think they have made some good moves.

Derek Lowe, Javier Vasquez, K... (Japanese guy whose name I can never spell,), and now, tonight, they have agreed to a deal with Garrett Anderson to play left field, who hit 290 with 15 homers, and 84 RBI. This on top of re signing a supposedly healthy Tom Glavine to be our number five starter.

It seems that the Braves will have a very good rotation, and a decent bullpen with Mike Gonzalez, and Rafael Soriano. This on top of Chipper, Mccann, Francouer, and now Garrett Anderson.

I'm very, very pleased with the way the Braves have stocked their roster. They acquired a legitmate ace in Derek Lowe, two other innings eaters in Vazquez and K... plus retained Glavine, as well as having Jair Jurrgens, who won 13 games last year, with a sub 4 ERA.

I think this team should win close to 90 games, and challenge for a wild card. They had money to spend this winter, and seem to have spent it wisely.

Thoughts on the Braves moves?

Mitch

Solid offseason...

I like the signings but this is now a very old team; better have quick results

Despite what Ozzie said about him, Vasquez is a good K pitcher and for 4-5 innings will be lights out

The Braves are an old team and signed nothing but old bums!! Good luck Braves, your tickle fantasy team has a better shot at winning the division then this old bag of shit team.

Braves are always competitive, they need a fire lit under them to play at a higher level.

They have some horses (however old they are) and their rotation is rounding out nicely.

I think Griffey would have been a solid fit for them (although he has injury and fielding issues and can't DH in the NL).

If some of the players they got in the Tex trade can contribute in the near future, they should be able to make some waves.

Just don't forget that they're in a hard division, competing w/ the Mets, Phish and defending champ Phils.

They'll probably win 80+ games... not sure if they have playoff potential yet.

I agree with you Mitchell, they had a solid offseason. They addressed needs. But they needed to address youth. Since the Braves don't want to spend more than $80,000,000 a year, I think they should be calling up that talent in their system. They have a GREAT system. You have the PERFECT manager to deal with young talent. Go for it. Like I said before, they addressed some needs but they really need to look at the talent on the farm a little more closely. But despite that, to be honest ( and I have a lot of respect for Bobby Cox and the Atlanta Braves organization ) they will finish in third place.

I think the NL East is by far the best division in the NL. The Phillies are World Champions. The Mets will collapse when it counts the most but will win 88 games. The Marlins are a tough team. Should they put their young talented staff together with all that hitting, the Marlins could win a divsion here. And the Washington Nationals are not a day at the beach. If you take all of that into an account, the Braves will win 80-86 games. I'll take that a step further, I believe that this division the last place team will win 78 games. This division is that tight.

so u more less agree with me. why dont u come out and say it. that was too funny.

Because I don't agree that Derek Lowe is a bum. I don't agree that Garrett Anderson is a bum. I don't think that Javier Vasquez is a bum. And the fact that you call it a shit team, I do not agree with either. So while you found my post "too funny" fact is, I don't agree with you. The Braves can compete. In the end they will finish third. But if I believe that they can win up to 86 games. And since I believe that 91 wins will win this division, it stands to reason that the Braves could be in the race until the last week of the season. So why didn't I come out and say I agree with you, because I don't. I found your post a waste of time and space. Twice.

his tickle fantasy team is a better team then the real braves team..whatever u say bud. fuck off.

solid offseason im not ready to say they will be making a playoff apperance but they have improved
