If there was a scientific way to measure a person's ticklishness on a scale of 1 to 10 and some conceivable way to test every adult 18 and over on the planet using this method, what do you think the average human ticklishness would be? Are most people typically ticklish enough to some degree that the average would come out around say a 7 or do you think there are enough non-ticklish people who are 1's and 2's to balance it all out so the average would be around a 5? Any thoughts?

Hmmm. Considering that nearly all of the population is ticklish at least a little in at least one location, I think when all was said and done it would probably average out somewhere around 6 to 7.5.
But that is just my own guess. 😉

I'll agree with Mimi... when, where and how much always matters.. I mean, I am EXTREMELY ticklish almost all over. But in average... I think she's right.
It really depends on the person, but if you take the average of all people over 18 in the world and their ticklishness, I believe Mimi and kitten are both right. Seperating the extremely ticklish from the very ticklish, and the moderately ticklish, to the a little bit ticklish , and the not ticklish at all. My guess is that most people on average are probably moderately to very ticklish, and while they may not collapse in laughter from being tickled in every spot on their bodies, almost every person I think has one or two spots which really bring them down, except for the rare ones who arent ticklish at all.
So, my guess for average ticklishness of people, probably about a 7, as I think almost all people, on average that is, have certain spots which can be highly ticklish.

Not to split hairs, but I don't think there's a right or wrong where this is concerned. It's all a matter of opinion and speculation. I do agree with Mimi and company about the average being around 7, but I was curious to hear what others thought about it.
And to "Hyped_up", I do dig what you're saying. However this whole thing was meant as something purely hypothetical. Even if there was such an agreed upon scale, only someone like Santa Claus could get around to every person in the world to apply it in a timely manner. lol

if we are considering everyone..which inclused people who hate it for whatever reason and it includes the body all over i would say a 8 only because there are some people who absolutley hate it because it tickles so much and then there are people who are a lil ticklish, but they are much more ticklish if done right, so i would say about an 8 a lil higher that average, but around there.

Given the extreme ticklishness of some against the medium ticklishness to barely ticklish to not ticklish. I think Mimi is close but I would average it out a tad bit higher to about an 8 to 8.5 .

I think it would be between 5 and 6.
If in some weird twist of events someone does decide to investigate this further and need a council of judges...i'm availible at all times lol.....and it wouldnt have to have a Santa all in one night thing...it can be like the census that goes on every 10 years but more like yearly or maybe bi-yearly..just an interesting concept though

I do agree that the average would be like a 6.5 to 7. I know I bring that average down because I am about a 3 ticklish scale.(maybe lower) but what this survey fails to give consideration to is how many people can control their tickling (like myself). But I would love to test all ladies out and find out how ticklish they are on a scale of 1-10. I hope I get the 7 on up to beyond 10. What do you say kitten, giggles32 ,hotel,sadira, steph,tklgal want to volunteer?

For myself I'm very ticklish, all my wife has to do is wiggle her fingers in the air and I just curl up into a ball, so on the ticklish scale a definate 10

BTW ericr, both of my kids are ticklish during exams. My daughter can barely get through the exam. She hates it-I personally find it cute! 😀 Our doctor thinks we're a little bit nutty in a good way😉 !
