Duh! that is the way it is with most of the female celebritys.

Makeup on=pretty Makeup off=not so pretty
 
Same goes for muscial talent........

....Army of studio technicians,session players and yes men equals...the illusion of musical ability.

Removal of all the above, reveals a spotty teanager, and not much else.
 
I always laugh my ass off at the celeb chasers round here. Guys have no clue that it takes 3 hours of hair and makeup stylists to make over all of these so called "hot chicks." There's a whole website dedicated to catching celebs without their trappings, it's hysterical.

I remember once I was watching Pop Up video on VH1 and they had a BLACK AND WHITE music vid of Shania Twain~the caption read that she spent SIX HOURS in hair and makeup for the shoot. What a narcissistic moron! 🙄 Most of the others are no better, IMHO.

I seen the celeb without makeup site.... However, there are a few celebs that are still very hot without makeup(Katie Holmes, Jessica Simpson, Jessica Biel, to name a few).
 
Oh, of course, you're right~but don't you find those are the girls who look fairly natural anyway though, even WITH makeup?? It's when you do that huge smudged black eyeliner heroin addict look or the super fake, super bimbo look (like Pamela Lee, who's hideous without makeup)

Cindy Crawford occasionally let herself be photoged w/out makeup and she was very beautiful too but even she was honest enough to admit, "Even I don't wake up looking like this!" and pointing to a cover of herself on Cosmo.

I watched an Oprah episode once and she had Jenny McCarthy on. Jenny had this huge poster of herself, "looking perfect" in a bikini and an electric pointer. She literally dissected herself, flaw by flaw. "See here? I have a birthmark but they airbrushed it out, and a long scratch on my leg from wrestling with my dog. There's a mole on my arm that they got rid of and my chest isn't this big, they also shrunk my waist a few inches..."It was brave I thought and very funny!😀

Red, she is anything but spotty. She collaborated in writing her first album. She wrote most of the songs on the new album. She has a great voice. The Beattles where talented as hell, and even they had producers like Phil Specter taking what they did and turning them into the classics we know today. In fact. McCartney said that the Specter songs would have sounded much different if they had produced it. Most good, talented musicians still have great producers, and alot also have great studio players on their album too. And, she also didn't get to where she is by having great producers. She is talented. And I have met women who look alot worse without their makeup. Who cares, I still say "GOD BLESS YOU AAVRIL LAVIGNE. GOD BLESS YOU!"
 
I don't think she looks ugly, just like a normal teenage girl. Kinda like the non "prep" gals that would have been my best friends that I grew up with. I honestly think girls look better when they have very little make up on. Too much makes it seem like they are hiding something.

I agree there. Very little make up looks cute and pretty. But girls that cake on thier make up with tons and tons of it look really bad in my opinion. But that is just me. I actually kinda like the punk look that some girls have today. I'm not really into PUNK Music per say at all really. But punk clothes/rocker clothes ingeneral don't bother me in the least. I'm fine with them 🙂
 
I have no problem with the girl, but please don't EVER label her kind of music as "punk".... That is disrespectful to the true punk bands(Ramones and The Sex Pistols, and punk revival bands like Green Day and old OffSpring).

She still looks cute. Young, with an kind of inocent girlish look. No real problem with that! I find it more real than the look we get to see on stage and I like real things.

I´d really like to see photos of the reporters who wrote she looked ugly! lolol I just have a guess that they might not look so good without makeup.....just a guess...lol

The hell! If she´s looking ugly....than you guys are being really really picky!! I was under the understanding that US girls were not all like the WAVES´s hot lifeguards 🙂 I now for sure that portuguese girls are not all damn hot. Most of them are regular girls and many still look cute.

I used to be a big fan of "punk," and I am pretty such that Arvil Lavigne is not punk... but then again I really can't recall anything that she has sung. I was more of a fan of bands like MxPx, face to face, down by law, pennywise, old offspring, nofx (until they got too political), ataris, descendants,joykiller, less than jake, dhc, and weston. I don't listen to much that is new, but what little i hear, it seems that there is a "punk" influence in the new rock...

but thatis another subject.

I really never liked the "punk" look, for two reasons, first it seemed unorginal like everyone was conforming to "non-conformity", it seemed that punk's idea of being yourself devolved into being and thinking like everyone else in this little subculture. Second, because I was more into being myself, I never really felt confortable in that dress/thought mind set.

ANYWAY (off that rabbit trail), beauty is natural. There are people who are naturally pretty and understand it. But I think that there are many more who are naturally pretty, but don't understand or know it, and go for what is false and end up destroying what made them beautiful to begin with.

hows that for a deep thought on a random thread in a message board?

How is she a "moron?" If I worked in an industry where my physical attractiveness significantly impacted my earning potential, I'd try to make myself look perfect, too...

I agree....and that website which is trashing her as "butt azz ugly" is IMO uncalled for. I've never been a fan of Avril Lavigne or her music, but to see someone mock her (any young woman) in that manner is disgusting to me.

No wonder we have so many young women and girls dying from anorexia, bulimia; having risky plastic surgery as teenagers....trying so hard to "be Barbie doll perfect" it threatens their life. I almost lost my younger sister twice to anorexia when she was a teenager....she'd scare me to death; stand in front of the mirror in tears, saying she was "too fat"...when in reality sis was far too thin.

Becky was a very pretty teenage girl....slender and attractive (without makeup), yet she didn't feel that way; didn't feel pretty....didn't feel slender, and those negative feelings almost killed her. I wonder if classless comments from some idiot such as this guy trashing Avril were the motivation for sis's negative feelings about herself.

By the way, I´m not a fan of Avril. Guess I only know 2 songs from her and I´m only able to remember that one who was like "standing in the rain"...that one was pretty basic, simple, but it was nice to ear. I try to be a romantic guy and allways thought that song was pretty cool to play when in a date 😉
 
Frankie's answer below probably expresses it better than I did. Look, if you actually NEED six hours of hair and makeup to look like that, you're not really all that "beautiful" are you? What you're left with is NOTHING like what you actually look like, and I find that extent of effort phony. I don't think there's anything wrong with Avril unmade up and I respect her for not being ashamed to sport the natural look for the camera, something I doubt Shania would be caught dead doing.

Too many shallow, callous, egotistical people in this world. There is FAR too much importance placed on physical beauty. I'd rather have a heart of gold than a body of steel anyday. Same goes for the people I choose to surround myself with.

I just drove back from doing a few sessions. On my way home, I saw this drop dead gorgeous creature walking down the street...she was about 5'8" tall, weighed at least 180 pounds and had the prettiest eyes. She may not be what Hollywood calls beautiful, but my heart sure skipped a beat looking at her.

I wonder if she realizes just how beautiful someone thinks she is?
