Ross and Kayley boarded the flight to San Francisco for the six hour flight there, and then when they got to SF , they changed planes for the flight to Anchorage Alaska. The couple took an Uber, found the best hotel they could, ate a light meal, slept, and then got ready for their departure the following night for their cruise to the Northern Alaska Tundra.
"I'm so tired from the time change that I dont know how I feel, somewhere between exhausted, and numb" Kayley said, referring to the four hour time change from New York, and the two six hour flights from NY to SF, and SF to Anchorage
"Let's just lie here and get as much sleep as we can. We have about twenty four hours until the cruise departs, so luckily we gave ourselves some time" Ross said.
The next day, Ross and Kayley rested, and lounged around the hotel, until it was time to check out, and head to the Port of Anchorage, to board the ship for their wonderful cruise.
The couple gave the crew their tickets, showed their Covid vaccine information, and then were shown to their room.
Once again they sat down and rested, and then went on the ship's deck, to do the usual celebration sail off for their eight day, seven night cruise.
After the sail off, the couple went to the dining room, to eat a light "dinner" even though their bodies were all messed up from the time change, the long flights, lack to sleep, and the sail off.
Once dinner was over, they went back on deck, to look at a big, beautiful, full moon until a clear sky.
"So wonderful to be with the person you've loved for a quarter century. I think that this was an awesome idea, and that we are going to have an excellent vacation" Ross said, cuddling Kayley, and kissing her.
After going back inside, and listening to some music, sleepiness set in.
"Ross, I dont remember when the last time we slept was. Let;'s just lie down and rest. We can either sleep, or go back and forth from the cabin out here. You know the drill, they have shows, music, games, etc" Kayley said.
Ross and Kayley went back to their cabin, undressed to underclothes, and lied down.
"Babe, raincheck on you know what. Later on in the next twenty four hours, okay. I need some serious sleep" Kayley said.
Ross saluted Kayley "Yes, teacher, no touchy feely until later"
After that, Ross and Kayley dropped off into a long,. long long sleep./ When Ross opened his eyes, he noticed it was twelve hours later. Kayley was sleeping peacefully next to him, but Ross was hungry.
"Kale, we've been sleeping for twelve hours. I guess between the time change and just wanting to relax. Are you up to just throwing on clothes, and going to find some food. We can do the fancy captain's dinner and meeting with the captain tomorrow night. I'm simply too tired to do it today or tonight" Ross said.
Kayley pulled herself out of bed. "Okay"
After Ross and Kayley showered, and threw on clothes, they went to a casual eating place to just munch on some food.
Of course, there were ports between Anchorage and the most northern port in the "Land of the Midnight Sun" The town formerly known as "Barrow Alaska" which was two full days away.
Usually, four to six hours were spent in each place. The couple figured that they would get off at the most "popular places" (Fairbanks, the town formerly known as Barrow, but they did not have to exit the ship at every port, and would just look.
For the first twenty four hours, everything was going calm, and wonderful , until trouble hit.
Both Ross and Kayley had very sensitive stomachs, and both began to feel sick, either from something they ate, or seasickness. They began throwing up.
"Ugh, just our luck, not even two days from Anchorage, and here we are sick" Ross said.
"Let's go see the ship's Doctor. Maybe he can give us a seasickness pill or a shot" Kayley said,.
The couple went to the ship's Doctor's office, saw him, and the Doctor gave them both a shot, and a seasickness pill.
The first "bump in the road" had hit, as the ship was cruising steadily toward Fairbanks Alaska.
Were Ross and Kayley's symptoms temporary, and could the pill and shots cure them quickly, or would the symptoms put a damper in their vacation?
That would be seen.
