Bad guys needed

So, I have an assignment for class where I need to think up a fictional world and write about it and its politics and shit like that. But I pretty much have that covered.

I need help though. I want to have an "evil" organization as the main antagonists of the story. I figured it would be cool if I used one that existed in the past. In the story, they can be brought back by someone (perhaps a descendant of a leader or something) as the bad guys who want to destroy the perfect world that I'm writing about.

Of course, the Nazis and the Klan come to mind, but that stuff is so overdone. Anything related to WWII is overrated.

I was considering the Knights Templar, but I'm just not feeling it.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Again, I'm looking for a controversial organization that could be revived to try and destroy this perfect world I'm writing about. I know I used the word "evil," but that is more of an opinion than anything else. Just throw out groups that would make good antagonists.

I could think up my own, fake bad guys if need be, but I don't have my heart set on that. I was hoping the plot of my story could play out like a wrestling show's plot (minus the wrestling, of course). Sort of like when they bring back various heel stables.

How about the Whig party who was a party in the US after the revolution. It is obscure, but has historical relevance, and there are a lot of records of them as they were a major part of the US government in its early history.

Ooh, slight problem with that one- the Whig party was where Abraham Lincoln got his start, later most of the Whigs became Republicans who later fought to reunite the United States and end slavery in the Civil War. So they're only really "bad guys" if you consider Robert E. Lee et.al. "the Good Guys" and fly a Confederate Battle Flag on your pickup truck bumper.

Which is your right, of course, but which I consider f^cking retreaded. (You know what I mean, but I'm trying to be polite...) As well as racist.
