BAD MOVE STARBUCKS!!!

Starbucks Coffee

"Recently Marines in Iraq wrote to Starbucks because they wanted to let

them know how much they liked their coffees and to request that they

send some of it to the troops there.

Starbucks replied, telling the Marines thank you for their support in

their business, but that Starbucks does not support the war, nor anyone

in it , and that they would not send the troops their brand of coffee.

So as not to offend Starbucks, we should not support them by buying any

of their products. As a vet writing to fellow patriots, I feel we should

get this out in the open. I know this war

might not be very popular with some folks, but that doesn't mean we

don't support the boys

on the ground fighting street-to-street and house-to-house for what they

and I believe is right.

If you feel the same as I do then pass this along, or you can discard it

and no one will ever know. Thanks very much for your support of me, and

I know you'll all be there again when I deploy once more.

Semper Fidelis.

:Grrr: :ranty:  😡 :disgust: :sowrong:

Just because Starbucks does not support the war, I just cannot see why they cannot support the troops over there. Its quite disgusting, I may have to drink my coffee elsewhere from now on.

The politics of coffee? :wow:

That's new.

Cheers.

Shitfire, I've been against Starbucks long before this little piece of info. They tend to kill-off the locally-owned coffee-shops whereever they land, and, while that's the way everything is heading(office supplies, lawn & garden, grocery stores, etc.), I don't have to capitulate just yet. Fortunately, we still have some terrific coffeeshops in our area, dispite Starbucks showing up a year or so ago...
:smilestar :ermm:

I think Starbucks coffee sucks anyway That is sad when they won't ship any over there Just think of the good and free publicity if they did so 😡

As I say, I don't care for `em to begin with; however, shit like this should be posted with a link to an actual news story or something. Otherwise, it's just more b.s. I read on the Net.

That's right Venray. That article is similiar to the urban legend which is still going around that at least some the 9-11 hijackers entered the United States through Canada, even though its been proven that all of them entered the U.S. through the front door. I'm glad you cleared this up, even though I'm not a starbucks fan either, no company should be slandered for something they did not do.

good move, Ven

The funny thing is, this was never believeable to me. What reputable company would ever jeopardize its business by taking such a controversial stance? Businesses stay in business by telling folks what they wanna hear, not by pissing them off. Sure they lie to us to get us to buy their products, but at least we can count on it being a non-controversial lie. lol

Description: Email rumor
Circulating since: May 2004
Status: False

Marine Sgt. Howard C. Wright, who authored the email in May 2004, subsequently issued a mea culpa (currently being distributed by Starbucks in answer to queries) in which he said:

"Almost 5 months ago I sent an email to you my faithful friends. I did a wrong thing that needs to be cleared up. I heard by word of mouth about how Starbucks said they didn't support the war and all. I was having enough of that kind of talk and didn't do my research properly like I should have. This is not true. Starbucks supports men and women in uniform. They have personally contacted me and I have been sent many copies of their company's policy on this issue. So I apologize for this quick and wrong letter that I sent out to you.

Now I ask that you all pass this email around to everyone you passed the last one to. Thank you very much for understanding about this.

F_ _ K Starbucks and their coffee!

Not supporting the war is one thing but to insult and blow off the tired and poor men and women over there by not supporting THEM and their efforts and sacrifice of mind body and soul as well as their lives is repulsive!!!!!
I will NEVER drink a cup of their frigging FIVE DOLLER coffee again!
My wish is they are boycotted on a massive scale so as they go bankrupt!!!

Hmmmmmm perhaps I should have read all of the posts before posting my response........

Did they send the troops coffee?

HOWever.......5 bucks for a cup of Latte is still off the hook and they still suck and I still won't drink their swill!

LOL... I love the creativity of some people in what they can fabricate.... I don't drink Starbucks anyway: it's too expensive, and all of their coffee works like an extreme laxative on me.

As the comic book shop guy from the Simpsons would say "worst.... coffee...ever!"

I am a Dunkin Donuts coffee person. I hate Starbucks Coffee, but the fact of the matter is that the story isnt true..... :upsidedow

:ranty: Fie on ye unbelievers! When that "Hot Donuts" neon is lit, it is like a beacon in the dark night, leading the weary seeker toward the sacred baked goodness that is the Divine Temple of the Krispy Kreme!!!

:bowing: All Hail!

I'm with you on this one Ray-Krispy Kreme is nasty! But, back to the subject matter. I don't drink Starbucks anyway-what the hell do I want to spend 4 bucks on a cup of coffee when I can buy a can at the grocery store and have all the coffee I want?

Besides, my coffee at work is free! 😀 :woot: That's when I drink the stuff period a few times a year!

Someone just opened up a neighborhood coffee shop. Most of its customers are bikers but it's open 24 hours and it's getting attention from the area. I personally think it's a haven for ex-alcoholics and addicts. But if it keeps them out of trouble, great for them! None of the major coffee shops would be creative and supportive of such an endeavor, would they?

Five fucking dollars for a cup of hot water with brown grit in it?

No chance!
