I was going to watch the Excessive Machine scene from Barbarella today, when I came across a clip of a stage production of Barbarella. Now there was a German musical version done some 15 years back, but this was different. This looked like a stage adaptation to the Jane Fonda movie from 1968. I got sucked in, and it is ridiculous and hilarious (kinda like the movie). It is a very spare looking production. The set is extremely simple and I wondered how they would tackle the Excessive Machine scene. Rather than moaning in pleasure (as she did in the movie) it looked like in this production the Machine was tickling her instead. I'm posting the clip below and it starts at around 14:40. Now the actress isn't actually being tickled, but for an old fan of of that scene like me, well let's just say I've long wondered about that scene playing out with more tickling. Enjoy!
