Alright guys. Let's see how good a prognosticator you are. What are your predictions for 2007??? I can predict that Natural will pick the CUBS to win it all. That won't happen but he is entitled. I can predict that Milagros will pick the Dodgers to win it all ( that is stretching it but more likely than the Cubs winning. ) I can predict that K-Skate will pick Boston ( possible ) and JPie will pick the Yankees ( also possible ). Here are my picks for the 2007 baseball season:

AL EAST
Boston 96-66
New York 95-67
Toronto 91-71
Baltimore 80-82
Tampa Bay 60-102

Detroit 97-65
Chicago 96-66
Cleveland 90-72
Minnesota 78-84
Kansas City 65-97

AL WEST
Los Angeles 92-70
Oakland 85-77
Seattle 79-83
Texas 77-85

Boston vs Chicago in ALDS White Sox win series 3 games to 2

In the ALCS
Detroit vs Chicago Tigers win series 4 games to 3
Tigers go to the World Series for second straight year.

NL EAST
New York Mets 90-72
Philadelphia 89-73
Atlanta 87-75
Florida 68-94
Washington 59-103

NL CENTRAL
Milwaukee 91-71
Chicago 88-74
St.Louis 83-79
Pittsburgh 78-84
Houston 72-90
Cincinnati 68-94

NL WEST
Los Angeles 85-77
San Diego 81-81
San Francisco 79-83
Colorado 76-86
Arizona 72-90

Milwaukee vs Philadelphia in NLDS Phillies win series 3 games to 1
New York vs Los Angeles in NLDS Mets win series 3 games to 2
In the NLCS New York vs Philadelphia Mets win series 4 games to 3
New York vs Detroit in the World Series

Detroit Tigers beat Mets 4 games to 1 in the 2007 World Series.

That is how I see it. What do you think???

Baseball 2007 opens up Sunday when the World Champion St.Louis Cardinals open up their home season hosting the New York Mets.

AL East
New York Yankees (most powerful lineup in baseball)
Boston (bullpen will be downfall)
Toronto (not enough starting pitching)
Tampa Bay (best young talent in baseball)
Baltimore (pitchers give up too many home runs)

AL Central
Cleveland (this team could be a handful)
Detroit (great lineup, but will pitching hold up??)
Chicago White Sox (not sure they have enough pitching)
Minnesota (After Santana, starting pitching is thin)
Kansas City (team sucks, but a great city to go for barbecue)

AL West
Los Angeles Angels (lots of good young talent)
Oakland (if pitching holds up they will challenge Angels)
Texas (they could contend if Eric Gagne returns to health)
Seattle (didn`t do much to improve in offseason)

NL East
Atlanta (my friend Mitch`s team will rise again)
New York Mets (starting pitching is very thin without Pedro)
Florida (great young talent, could be a surprise team)
Philadelphia (Ryan Howard will hit more like Moe Howard)
Washington (as bad as President Bush)

NL Central
St. Louis (Tony LaRussa should call a cab next time)
Milwaukee (great bratwurst)
Houston (Lost too many good pitchers)
Cincinnati (if Griffey stays healthy, they could surprise)
Chicago Cubs (1908 World Series Champions)
Pittsburgh (no thankyou)

NL West
Los Angeles Dodgers (could win it all this year)
Arizona (great young talent, could surprise and earn wild card)
San Diego (team is ok, but good looking female fans)
Colorado (not enough bats)
San Francisco (oldest team in baseball, will be a long season in S.F.)

I will wait until a later date to make playoff predictions.

Will the Tigers pitching hold up??? They are the only team that have potentially 7 starters and that does not include Kenny Rogers. They also have the youngest pitching staff without Kenny Rogers. Will pitching hold up??? As far as the Braves can I ask if Mike Hampton has gotten that contagious Kerry Wood disease??? I try not underestimate any team but the Bravos are just not that good. And how about keeping Chipper on the field a WHOLE season so Andruw ( who will have a DOMINATE SEASON ) isn't the only guy in that lineup for half a season.

Rematch from '86....Red Sox vs Mets in the World Series
Red Sox win second title in three years

That would be an interesting World Series. Maybe the Red Sox could bring back Bill Buckner and Bob Stanley to throw out the first pitch. 🙂

I doubt Buckner would want to be a part of it. I remember seeing an interview that he did for ESPN and I believe he said he would never return to Boston. It would be nice though if he did this and got a great ovation from the crowd.

Jim Leland had the young pitchers carry a big load last season pitching a lot of innings and it may catch up with them this year. Case in point: Justin Verlander pitched 186 innings, which is a lot of innings for a rookie. After the first four months in which he went 13-4 with a 2.69 ERA, he slammed into a brick wall by August. He complained that his shoulder hurt, and had trouble even reaching to take the covers off to get out of bed in the morning. From August 1st through the World Series he went 5-7 with a 5.88 ERA including two losses to the Cardinals. They have the horses to win it all this year, but you have to agree that having young pitchers play such key roles can be risky business. As to the Braves, their starting pitching is good, but they picked up a stud closer over the winter from the Pirates named Mike Gonzalez, and I predict he will be a difference maker. Since he played in Pittsburgh nobody heard about him, but he is lefthanded and has nasty stuff.

I will mark your words but that is almost as laughable as saying the Cubs and World Champions in the same sentence. :xpeepsofa :jester:

Now you know your team is not going to win it all. Remember your 14-2 start in 2005??? What ended up happening there??? But as usual, you are predictable.

Here are my predictions.

NL East

Mets
Braves (Wild Card)
Phillies
Marlins
Nationals

NL Central

Cards
Astros
Cubs
Brewers
Reds
Pirates

NL West

Padres
Dodgers
Giants
DBacks
Rockies

AL East

Yankees
Red Sox (Wild Card)
Blue Jays
Devil Rays
Orioles

AL Central

Twins
Tigers
White Sox
Indians
Royals

AL West

Angels
A's
Rangers
Mariners

NLDS

Braves defeat Padres
Mets defeat Cards.

ALDS
Yankees Defeat Twins
Red Sox Defeat Angels

NLCS

In a very Thrilling one, Mets defeat Braves in seven games

ALCS

Another thriller-Yankees Over Red Sox in seven games

Yankees defeat Mets in seven games, for World Series.

I know many of us hate the evil Yankees, but, I think this can be their year. The Mets are short of pitching, and, even if Pedro comes back in August, as people think he will, I dont think they will have enough to win the WS. Also, the idea of the Mets beating the Braves in the NLCS galls me, but, I think both should make the playoffs, and, if the Mets win the division, and the Braves the wild card, as may well happen, and the Mets have home field advantage, that could serve to help them defeat Atlanta.

So, all the predictions given, less than 24 hours til Mets V Cards in St Louis, and less than 40 hours to Braves V Phillies in Philly, and other games, let's play ball, be healthy, and have a great season!

Mitch

Bill:Let it be noted that I greatly appreciate your endorsement of my team. We had a good spring, and the Mets a terrible one, and yes, their starting pitching without Pedro until at least August will be thin. That being said, if that lineup hits, they may be able to win games 6-5 and 7-6. They have a volcanic one. The Mets also have a great bullpen, but, Atlanta's is much improved, too. I will say, that, if the Braves stay healthy, and everyone plays as they are supposed to, and Hampton comes back in May, I dont think the NL East will be a Mets romp like last year. Even if the Mets do win, it should be very close. I definitely expect Atlanta to win at least the wild card, as our bullpen is much improved with the additions of Gonzalez and Soriano, and having Wickman in the ninth inning for a full season. We wont be blowing half our save opportunties again. I expect Atlanta to have a good year this year, much better than our 79-83 disaster of 2006.

NLCS

Mets defeat Dodgers in six games

ALCS

Yankees Over Red Sox in seven games

Mets defeat Yankees in seven games, for World Series.

Hopefully the Mets starting pitching will hold water until Pedro comes back, like people predict. Their starting line up and bull pen are good enough to carry them to win alot of games. Although the Yankees have a strong starting line up, and good starting pitching, I don't think the Yankees have the horses to bridge to Rivera

History is going against the Detroit Tigers. The last time the losing team of a World Series that went to the Series the following year was the 1991-92 Atlanta Braves. It'll be tough without Kenny Rogers but if the Tigers can keep pace in the division, they should be strong to finish the season and make the playoffs. But the old injury bug didn't hit the Tigers last year, and now it seems to be biting them in the arse.

Here are my picks
