ok, so they are already starting the all star voting. Don't you think that after only 1 month of play that this is really too early to decide who is having an all star season? personally I think the all star game should be played at the end of the season and truly reflect good seasons...just my humble opinion...

Baseball all star voting starts too early

Good idea...
I agree JPie, but since Baseball is played outside,in most stadiums, it gets too cold say in November to play baseball.
And of course since the AllStar game is in July they have to get things started early. It really stinks for the player that gets hot AFTER the AllStar break...

The All-Star voting is largely a popularity contest anyway. 🙁
How often have you seen a famous name from a big city elected, while a young player at the same position with better stats is left out?

It's true that November is too cold to play baseball. However, like the superbowl, you can pick a city that has a warmer climate like Los Angeles or Miami, OR you can choose a park which has a retractable roof or dome. With all the new ball parks being built, that have that retractable roof, that is a way around the elements.
I also agree with Milagros that the All Star game is really a popularity contest amongst the fans. However, if you take away the fans right to have a say of who they want to see, I'm afraid that the interest will be lower than it is already (if that is humanely possible). At least the players and managers get to select the reserves.

Yes, that allows correction of some severely unfair exclusions by the fans. And you are right, taking away fan voting would cause some loss of interest in the All Star game. 😀
