Baseball Schedule After All Star Break

Does the schedule this year seem very odd in regard to the teams returning from the All Star Break? It used to be that on the Thursday following the break, all the teams, or almost all the teams, played on Thursday night. This year, only four games, and eight teams, are scheduled to play tomorrow, with the rest of the teams returning on Friday.

I wanted to post to get feedback on this. On one hand, I think this might be a good thing, to give the All Stars, the teams, and certain pitchers, extra rest, especially the pitchers who pitched in that marathon All Star Game last night. On the other hand, it would seem that the fans in most or all cities would want to get back to regular season baseball on the first day after the break.

Any thoughts?

I'm not aware of who's playing just yet. I do know that George Sherrill pitched 2 1/3 one-hit innings last night. He's the closer for my Orioles, and has already worked more this season than he has in the past. Would be nice if he got some downtime. Everybody else who didn't play that much, yeah, they should probably be back on the field.

I know that a Wednesday night with NO sports is NO fun. Get those boys back on the field.

Here is MY point of view: If you are going to give 22 teams a four day All-Star break... then the other 8 teams are ALSO entitled to a four day All-Star break. As usual, MLB and Bud Selig screw up again!!!

I agree with you, 4u. Selig is awful. They either should have had every team start up again yesterday, or given each team off until today.
