It looks to be good. Although I really wish that they had had the guys (Especialy Paul Dini) from the Animated Series to write the screenplay and direct. They have already proven themselves over a period of 10 years to be able to produce some of the best Batman material out there. They had created characters who showed real emotion, and a Batman that wasn't a carboard character.

Now this one I like.

on the bright side, alot of big name stars have been brought together for the flick: christian bale, katie holmes, morgan freeman, gary oldman...the list goes on. and, at wizardcon chicago, a warner rep. showed everyone a one time only 10 minute montage of the whole shebang, and the audience loved it. despite the fact that the last two bat-flicks were terribly ruined, i believe that this one will certainly make up for it.

I just hope they don't have Bruce wearing glasses in the movie this time...that always annoyed me..a guy who can throw a tiny Batarang and knock a gun out of a thug's hand from a good distance away..while moving. and who can find clues that the police can't at crime scenes...needs glasses? (Seemed like in the later movies he wore them just to wear them..)

I thought Batman was Bruce Wayne, not Clark Kent. 🙄 Oh well at least from the pics , looks like they'll be putting the "dark" back in the Dark Knight again. Hopefully we'll get to see him slam thugs against walls and threaten to drop them off rooftops if they don't give him the right info. You know they'll talk when he growls "That's NOT the answer I WANT!!" 😀

Hey He man. I had a problem with the Glasses thing too. Also, in Batman Returns, when he slips up near the elevator and says something that, I forget the lind, but it is something that would give away that he was Batman to Michelle Pfeifer. Batman would never do that. Bruce Wayne is in control of everything in his life. Even his movements as Batman are minimal and the correct move to do for the given task. Batman is not wastefull in anything he does,a dn becasue of this, he knows he is right in what he is doing, and therefor perceived as a control freak. And he will use whatever he has to to get the job done, even if it is at the stake of ruining a friendship. This is a recurring arguement between Bruce and Dick Grayson. It is also the thing that eventually ends their friendship. This is one of the few things that actually gets to Bruce as Dick is like a brother to him. They argue like brothers. All of the other Robins, even Batgirl, is just a team member. But Dick was family. He basically runs a tight ship. And as Bruce Wayne, every move is calculated to give the air if a spoiled, selfish billionaire who is living life just to have a good time. That is purposely to distance himself from the Batman personae. Even the image of sleeping around is another tool he uses. He usually disapears before he actually does the dirty deed, which is a repuatation that he has with the women he has dated. The only woman he really cared about was Selina Kyle as it is the only person that he can have any affinity with. She is a female version of him. She is no nonsense like he is. They are both objective oriented people. Also, Bruse is Batman, and Bruce Wayne is the mask he puts on. These are things that I think were missing in the previous movies. The first one has the suit as the Batman personae. The suit is just another tool he uses to obtain his objective-to put fear into people. He doesn't have superpowers, and he is just a man. So fear is the only thing he really has going for him. The films never got into this. I mean he has put so much fear into criminals that some ofc them piss their pants just seeing his shadow behind them. I am hoping this film is the one that shows that. Also, and it was only realy shown in Batman Forever, Batman is not soley a Highly trained Ninja. He is considered one of the brightest analytical minds on the planet akin to only Sherlock Holmes. he can walk into a room and spot the thing that everyone is missing to figure out who is doign the crime. And he is a genious who can deduce things. I am hoping this is in the movie too. The closest I think they ever came to the real Batman is the Animated Series.

And that last point of him slamming people into walls and peopel talking when he growls is what makes Batman Batman. The time I really think they got that right in the Animated Series is the Batman/Superman Movie. Everytime he enters lexs apartment he backhands Mercy, without even looking at her, just as she is about to try to get the jump on him. It is like swatting at a nat. They show it the first time. The second time you just see her knocked out in a corner. That is the Batman I want to see. The interogating someone and backhanding someone without even looking at them at the same time.

Oh yeah the backhanding is cool..he did that a few times in one of the animated Batman series (I think it was the one where Tim was Robin and Dick was Nightwing) ...one of Scarface's thugs, Rhino had gotten back up from being knocked out...he tries to sneak up on Bats while he's about to interrogate another thug. When he gets close enough, Rhino gets a backfist strike to the face...although it looks like Batman never even knew he was coming. The Burton "Batman" movie was the first time he did that....and Terry McGinnus, from Batman Beyond did that to one of the Jokerz in "Return of the Joker" .

And of course we gotta eventually see him escape from the supposedly escape-proof death trap, when we wonder "How the hell did he do THAT?!!" (The first JL story with the "Injustice Gang" had him do that...Joker was right...Lex SHOULD have shot him when he woke up. )

One thing about Bruce though...he's not supposed to be a spoiled billionaire...he cares about people (as seen when the quake struck Gotham..he hated being Bruce and talking with those jerks who were making fun of the quake and Gotham....and when he saw the results of the plague that'd taken so many lives. )....but he's a bit of an airhead. But at least he's fair and does try to help people out ...in the comic based on the animated series he gave Arnold Wesker, the Ventriloquist, his job back, even though he'd been sent to Arkham again (hey at least he was one villan who was trying hard as hell to go straight).

I guess outside of his company, people might think he's somewhat selfish, though.

Well in the book "No Man's Land", based on the comics with the quake to Gotham, Bruce calls Luscious Fox at one point to give him some information that he knows Luscious will take and then get the ball rolling to get Lex to come in and rebuild Gotham, which Lex was planning to do anyway. But this information was also to get info so that he could get Lex out once Lex came in and spent all that money to start rebuilding Gotham. Bruce needed Lex to start the ball to get the Government to come in with the funds and do alot of rebuilding too. During the call he pretends he is in Nice, France (Not sure if that is a real place) and is hanging out by the pool with a bunch of French floosies until Gotham is open up to come back to. Basically having a good time away from his home. Once the phone call is over he switches back to his real personality, which is Batman. Then after Lex and the Government reopen and are in to rebuild Gotham, Bruce has a meeting with Lex. It is the first time he has had to be Bruce Wayne since Gotham was closed by the government, which I believe was a year. It tells how he takes about 15 minutes to get Back into the Bruce Wayne personae. How he has to move his head. His body posture. That permanent 'Yeah I am a billionaire" smile. Teh flighty attitude. At one point he thinks how he has wished he had never made the Bruce personality such a flighty person. Then in the meeting between he, Luscious Fox, Luthor, and Mercy, he pretends to be disinterested in the whole thing. He slaps his legs and gives the impression as he is just there because he owns Wayne Tech. He also makes it like he really wants to leave so he can go to a nightclub and play with a gaggle of women. When he leves he even hits on Mercy. This is the same girl that, as Batman, he had backhanded/knocked out a few times before this meeting.

What is nice about the book too is a scene where he goes to meet Alfred and is at a loss. Nothing he is doing is helping, or getting the city together. It is the first time Alfred sees him in a state of total non control and uncertainty. Bruce really is lost for the first time in his life. And that is also the real Bruce. It isn't Bruce Wayne. It isn't Batman. It is just the same little lost child that Bruce was the night his parents were murdered.
