I've always noticed, in the majority of the tickling videos and photos (especially from japan), that the male ticklers always hide their faces and identity! The female ticklees, are completely shown, faces and all.

Just wondered why. Maybe someone who produces videos of this type can explain. That is, if the female can be shown (identity), why does the male need to hide his identity? Is he too embarrassed and afraid to be identified? Why? Not trying to be a wise guy here...just seriously curious as to why this seems to be?

this is an easy one. As one who would love to be like the Jeff's of the world and be surrounded by ticklish girls all the time and make a living tickling them, it would be super embarrassing (to me, and probably many others out there) to be exposed as a tickle/foot fetishist. The excuse for the girls is not that they enjoy it (for the most part; maybe some do) it's that they are promised money for modeling.
But boy if i had money, would i love to move to Van Nuys or someplace in the West and start producing tickle videos!! What a gig that would be. Who loves their jobs more than guys like Jeff and TTD?

Well, I'm not sure about embarassment alone. 🙂

Japanese have a subtly different imaginery. Those masks are just mouth covers against the 'flu - but in anime and mangas shades and mouthmasks usually imply an ill-meaning individual, a thief or a criminal of some sort.

Anonymity also increases the dramatic tension, since the victim can't relate or plead to a faceless tormentor.

And, as an added bonus, leaving those faces "blank" allows the viewers to indentify themself with the ticklers.

Incidentally, since "mainstream" japan sexual imaginery is quite male-dominated, reversal roles are quite rarer - and most male victims I've seen rarely are muscular model types [but rather next door guys].
