Bellybutton Lint ... What Up Wit That?!?!

I gots me a question that is burnin' me brain somethin' fierce : where in the heck does bellybutton lint come from? Maybe one of our resident smarty-pants TMFers would like to take a stab at it & provide the rest of us apes an explaination on this miraculous formation.

I've never had belly button lint and frankly, I could never understand how someone else could too, unless they didn't bathe or something. Someone would have to be pretty unhygienic for particles of multiple things to get lodged into your belly button.
