Does anyone else remember the Maxx?

I vaguely remember it. I never watched the entire series though. It was one of those series that you had to catch every episode or you had no clue what was going on. (Kinda like Heroes).

Snail Shell

seems vaguely familiar for some reason. around what time period was this on?

I guess it would be around 91-93, something like that. I used to be so into this show... my roommate and I would get stoned and watch every new episode, like it was a religion 🙂

Now there's something I can agree with! Rarely can you find a cartoon so loyal to the original vision of it's creator. Sam Kieth was a God. Not especially fond of how his art wound up evolving -- I like the old Sam Kieth -- but you can't harness an artist. If you like the cartoon, Jeff, check out the books on which it was based:

Maxx Vol. 1

Maxx Vol. 2

Maxx Vol. 3

Maxx Vol. 4

Maxx Vol. 5

Maxx Vol. 6

The cartoon only went a little way into the complete work on The Maxx.

If you like his art and storytelling, Sam's gone on to do:

Legs (original one-shot comic)
Zero Girl (original series)
Zero Girl: Full Circle
Four Women (original series; graphic novel revised) *Widely acclaimed
Wolverine/Hulk
Scratch (featuring Batman)
Ojo (original series)
Batman: Secrets
My Inner Bimbo (original series)

I have a nice original color page from the original "Zero Girl" -- bought it in an auction to benefit families of victims of 9/11. Good stuff. I'm still trying to get my hands on his Maxx stuff or his old work on Wolverine in Marvel Comics Presents...

Ohhh The Maxx, crown jewel of MTV's burst of kickass animation. Every episode is beautiful and interesting and funny. As much as I love Aeon Flux, Maxx is king.
