I saw a segemnt on NFL total access that was top 5 players in the buisness, so it got me thinking who do you think are the top 10 players in the league. Here are mine

1) Troy Polamalu/Ed Reed i cant put either of these guys ahead of the other they are both flat out amazing, and get as many tackles as linebackers, a lot of ints and find ways to score from the defensive side of the ball

2)Tom Brady, what can you say about this guy. Has a ton of records and hes THE winner at qb

3)Demarcus Ware he is beastly and had 20 sacks last year, he is the best linebacker in the buisness

4) Andre Johnson, yes i think he is better than Fitzgerald, he has less talent around him and a revolving qb yet still puts up better numbers. Its not his fault the Texans arent in the playoffs

5) Adrian Peterson, needs no explanation

6) Peyton Manning, he would be higher on the list but he is a choke artist come playoff time.. with the exception of the superbowl year

7) Larry Fitzgereald, i think a lot of people over value him due to what he did in the playoffs.. but regardless he belongs on the list

8) James Harrison, reaging defensive mvp and makes big plays when the steelers need him

9) LT regardless of his "down year" last year he is still one of the best

10) Drew Brees, just a great qb in a system he thrives in

players who just missed my list Shawne Merriman, Oshimogo Atogwe, Nmandi Asmoaguah, Anquan Boldin

I like the topic of the thread but I think this is way to hard to ever really determine .

your list is full of great players but it is mostly full of the more highprofile positions like QB , RB, WR, and OLB.

How can you do a top 10 without someone like Steve Hutchinson which is widely reguarded as the best O-lineman in the biz. Or Albert Haynesworth , Joe thomas, or even Patrick Willis

Well high profile players are high profile for a reason, its hard to say an offensive lineman is one of the best players in the league when they dont win games per say.

As for Haynesworth i left him off because he is lazy, he doesnt play every down and has only played one full season. Only had one season and that isnt criteria for one of the best

Patrick Willis probally deserves to be on the list or just off it, along with Darnell Dockett

I respectfully disagree with your sentiment . Most casual fans aren`t able to recognize the major contributions that offensive and defensive line make.

Look at your steelers of the 70`s

Ever wonder why they were so dominant; It is because they had truly great offensive and defensive lines and middle linebackers

let me expand a bit on my earlier stated opinion....just off the top of my head

these guys made the pro-bowl when the following teams were winning superbowls or were competing for superbowls.....the dynasty years so to speak!

Steelers

mean Joe Greene 10

Jack Lambert 9

Mike Webster 10 Widely reguarded along with Dwight Stephenson as the best two center EVER

Jack Ham 8

Andy Russell 7

L.C. Greenewood 6

Casey Hampton 4

Bruce Van Dyke 1

Cowboys

Bob Lilly 11

Larry Allen 10 May go down as best offensive lineman ever to play pro football

Randy White 9

Rayfield Wright 6

Nate Newton 6

Eric Williams 4

Mark Stepnoski 3

Leon Lett 2

Ray Donaldson 2

Mark Tuinei 2

Russell Maryland 1

Just about all these guys played non high-profile positions but were insanely crucial to his teams success. Many guys above are or will be hall-of-famers. Of course they played with some great skill-position players , but the guys listed above only made the skilled guys that much better

Do we see a pattern here ???😛😛😛

well the point im trying to make is its possible to have a championship team without a great o or even d line.

The Steelers and Cardinals had probally the worst o lines in the league last year and were in the superbowl. The colts line was also poor last year and they did well. I understand the point your making about the o and d lines they are the building blocks for a great team but being able to win without them means they stay off my list, but thats just me.

On the otherhand its impossible to make the playoffs or go on a playoff run without a few impact players like rb,qb,wr,lb etc

really

remind me again all the impact players the Ravens had in 2000 on offense when they won it all .

Oh yea, sorry they had Trent Dilfer :yourock:

Didnt say you need those players at all positions but they had impact players in Ray Lewis and Tony Sirigusa, im sure there are others but i dont feel like doing the research. There is hardly ever a team winning it all because of a line, as you see for a reference you had to go back to 2000

I win !!! :yayzorz::yayzorz::yayzorz:

you obviously lose, the 2000 ravens also had jamal lewis, priest holmes, shannon sharpe, chris mccalister, brandon stokely, qadry ismail and peter bowlware

as i said you need impact players you dont need an o line or even d line

Lewis had 1364 yards which is a good season , but hardly an impact year

Holmes rushed for 588 yards . yawwwnnnn

shannon sharpe had a real solid year with 810 yrds receiving .see Lewis above

Ismail had 655 yards at lead WR. those are CRAPPY numbers for a 2nd wr.

stokely had 184 yds receiving.

are you kidding me ????:facepalm2:

didnt say they had impact years but are clearly impact players which you need.. show me a team with no impact players that has won anything and ill concede my argument

I just did . the Ravens

they had one impact player in Lewis , he doesn`t play an high-profile position like qb, rb , wr .

they played the consumate team game where the OL AND DL were huge in that team winning the superbowl

they cut Dilfer the year after they won the SB

CHECK AND MATE

not quite the reason they won was their defense and the running of jamal lewis, not so much the yards he got but the ability to keep the ball away from the other team.

defense won it for them and the impact players on that defense were boulware LB, Ray Lewis LB, and Chris mccalister CB all high profile positions on the defense

so no that team doesnt quite make your argument

sure it does

Mc Calister was a rookie , real good rookie season , but hardly a great season

they had 4 pro-bowlers on that team. not one was a skilled player. A LB , OL. DL and a kicker
