Terminator 2 is a good sequel. Empire Strikes Back and Back to the Future 2 are both great too.

Terminator 2 undoubtably in my mind. ^^
Besides "Empire Strikes Back" or "Attack of the Clones"??? (My 2 fav Star Wars movies)
For sequels that arguably surpassed their originals, how bout "Blade 2" and "Toy Story 2"
(Star Trek 2 and 3 are too obvious)
Also, I've always thought "Friday the 13th Part 2" was way better than the first one...(yeah I know they all sucked, but 2 and 4 were actually pretty good)

Hmmm....sequels. I'd also go with The Empire Strikes Back or The Two Towers...except that you really can't count the second in a pre-conceived trilogy or saga as a true "sequel". It's just the next part of a longer story that was planned from the start.
As far as actual sequels go...a film made to follow-up a film that was initially made to stand alone...
Terminator 2, definitely. You'd also have to say Aliens, the sequel to Alien. Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan was easily the best of that franchise of sequels. Lethal Weapon 2 was better than the first, which was good to begin with.
The best horror sequel, to me, wasn't actually a second film but a third. Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors kicked major ass.

Yes, I think The Dark Knight owns, and now I'm compelled to rout through my movie collection to see if any other sequels I forgot about...
