Best/Worst wrestling gimmicks

Yes, I have started another wrestling thread. Surprised? This one is pretty self explanatory. I figured I'd ask people to talk about some of their favorite gimmicks of all-time, as well as those that made them want to throw their TV out the window. I'll get it started.

BEST: The Undertaker. I believe it was Mick Foley that commented on this being the best gimmick of all-time, but don't hold me to that. I happen to agree. When that bell tolls and the lights go off, it's just an amazing thing to watch. I still hope to see it live someday.

WORST: Mortis. Hey, look! It's Chris Kanyon decked out like a Mortal Kombat character! Lame cheesy.

Ironically enough, Glacier was second on my list of bad gimmicks to bring up. Sub-Zero, man! I suppose Mortis was Shao Kahn. Now I've got a hankering to play some Mortal Kombat. Anyway, here are a few more...

BEST: Kane. The original monster. The monster that took 3 Tombstone Piledrivers from the Undertaker at WrestleMania 14 before finally staying down. Back then, Kane came across as the biggest threat that the WWF had seen since... well, the Undertaker himself. He was legitimately mysterious and scary. The current day Kane just pales in comparison.

WORST: Kerwin White. I love Chavo Guerrero. I really do. But really, whoever came up with that character for him should be drug tested even more often than the wrestlers themselves. What's sad is that it took Eddie's untimely death to end that gimmick and let Chavo be Chavo again.

Best: Hollywood Hulk Hogan in the greatest heel turn ever.

Worst: Kiwi. The gay gimmick that imitated the Mango character on SNL.

Yep, I've got to agree with both. Shawn Michaels, though not exactly popular in Canada, turned himself into a legendary performer when he dumped Janetty and became HBK. Absolutely one of my favorite performers of all-time, easily. Even at his age, he can still out-perform a large number of guys on the active WWE roster today.

As for Hornswoggle.... yeah. He's a sideshow gimmick and nothing more. Popular with the kiddies, perhaps, but otherwise not a credible wrestler in the least. Anyhow, adding a few more names to the list...

BEST: Stone Cold! Stone Cold! Stone Cold! It's so hard for me to believe that this guy used to go by "Stunning" Steve Austin in WCW. I remember him in those days and he was utterly forgettable. Somehow this guy reinvented himself into one of the most over wrestlers in the history of WWF/WWE.

WORST: Bastion Booger. Yep, exactly what the WWF needed at the time. A big, ugly, hairy fat guy that wore a horrible bondage-like singlet. Awesome. 😱
