Every week, I see folks, both at work at on this forum, who lose money betting on professional sports.
Aside from being a cheap source of entertainment for me, I've never known why people do this. I've only ever betted on three sports events (all MMA fights), and I've won every time because I follow the sport and I'm familiar with the fighter involved. Betting didn't make the fight more exciting and winning didn't make me feel any better or worse. I called it. Hooray for me.
My question, I suppose is, why do people insist on losing money on pro sports week after endless week? Especially in this economy. Failing that, why don't people get good at calling sports (NFL in particular) before starting to do with with actual money?
Or just not gamble?
Looking forward to intelligent replies.
