Can't say I was a big fan of the band, but liked some of their music. R.I.P. Mr. Lanier.

R.I.P. Mr. Lanier!!
Been a big Cult fan for years. I know not many folks are. They seem to have more of a "cult following" (like RUSH). No pun intended. Only saw them once, back in the late 70's. But what a show they put on!!! Mostly known for "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" (still a classic to this day) IMO. But I love others like..."Cities on Flame..."..."This Ain't the Summer of Love"..."Goin' Through the Motions"..."Godzilla"..."Astronomy" (of which Metallica did an awesome cover...on "Garage, Inc.")
Do any folks realize that they were the first to use laser light shows, in concert?? And that Lead Vocalist...Eric Bloom...is a cousin of Howard Stern??? Just a couple tidbits I find interesting.
Again...sorry to hear the news!!!

I had no idea they were the band to introduce laser light shows to rock concerts. Interesting.

BOC was in my opinion, one of the better classic rock bands. Classier.
I have every confidence that Allen Lanier faced the Reaper with composure and dignity.

R.I.P. brother.

Was a big BOC fan back in college, saw them live in 1980, awesome concert! Lot of people only associate them with "Don't Fear the Reaper" and that goofy "cowbell" sketch from Saturday Night Live. But like tklbd mentioned, they have a ton of great obscure songs. "Before the Kiss a Redcap", "ODed on Life Itself", "E.T.I.", "The Subhuman", "Mirrors",.......so many to check out.

R.I.P., Allen.

When I was in the military, we'd listen to Agents of Fortune and Secret Treaties quite regularly. Of course, it goes without saying those were the days before drug testing. wink.

Classic SNL sketch!!! And of course, it was done to "Reaper"!!! !!!MORE COWBELL!!! LOL!!!

I know this is an "old" thread...but just thought a little BOC update, should be in order. (should have done this, months ago).....

.....Got to see BOC, at a little venue near L.A., back in Jan. FANTASTIC show!!! Eric and Buck have been doing this so long, it was incredible to watch how effortless and professional they are!!! The sound was PERFECT...as was the harmonies!!! Made it seem like listening to their original recordings!!! Richie Castellano (rhythm guitar, occasional lead guitar, and sometimes keyboards) and Jules Radino (drums) have been with them for 10 years now, and are PERFECT compliments to the band!!! Kasim Sultan (bass) joined the group in 2012. Another accomplished "veteran", Sultan has credits going back to the '70's (Todd Rundgren and Utopia) and the '80's (Joan Jett and The Blackhearts)!!! Another PERFECT compliment to the rest!!! I highly recommend any BOC fan to see them, if possible!!!

Also...just saw FOREIGNER, STYX AND DON FELDER in Santa Barbara!!! Most beautiful venue I've been to!!! Here's a little "recap".....

-DON FELDER...All I have to say is DON'T waste your money (twice the cost) and going to a larger venue (The L.A. Forum) to see The Eagles!!!
He's incredible and his band rocks!!! Even got to see Tommy Shaw join him for "Hotel California"! They "mirrored" each other on
double-neck guitars!!!
-STYX...Tommy Shaw and James "J.Y." Young are FANTASTIC!!! The rest of the band isn't too shabby, either!!! Tommy is a wizard and James
still brings A LOT of energy and humor to the stage!!! (just disappointed they didn't play "Miss America")
-FOREIGNER...What can I say...MICK JONES is a "GOD"!!! (in rock & roll terms) The entire band KICKS ASS!!! And with Kelly Hansen out front...
who needs Lou Gramm to come back??!! (as rumor has it, that he wants too) Kelly sounds PERFECT for all their hits..has many
mannerisms of Steven Tyler..but also has the energy of any front man I've ever seen!!! (like Steven, 30 years ago!!!) LOL!!!

Anyway...I hope you all don't mind my "update" to this thread!!! Thanks for "listening"!!!

HEY!!! Finally made "regular" status with this post!!! Only took a little over 8 years!!! LOL!!!
