Bobby Bonilla starts to collect his deferred money from Mets

Bonilla's contract with the Mets, was, at the time, the joke of baseball. Additionally, Bonilla was unproductive, and injured, for much of his time with the Mets, not to mention that they were a terrible team during those years.

Another contract that was structured like Bonilla's was Bruce Sutter's. When Sutter signed with the Braves in 1985, he received $10 mil, at a rate of $2 mil a year for five years, and then was to collect $30 mil in deferred money, which I believe he is now doing at the rate of $1 mil a year, through the year 2029. As baseball fans know, Sutter was a bust with the Braves, saving a total of 40 games in his four years with them, and spending most of his time on the DL.

Sutter and Bonilla: Two contracts that were/are simply deplorable.
