Boise State Broncos (and the BCS) Win the Fiesta Bowl!!!

First off, I'm not a Bandwagon Boise fan...I've been following this team for about five years now and I've really come to enjoy watching them play.

Congrats to Boise State on one hell of a hard-fought win against an equally-good TCU team. Whoever won, BCS history was made...the first BCS game featuring two undefeated teams that wasn't the National Championship Game. But the fact that it was two teams from that "non-automatic bid" group of schools made it even better.

But this had to be a good game. After #3 Cincy got blown out by Florida...if the Fiesta Bowl were also a blowout or sloppy game the BCS voters are less likely to be kind to the smaller schools in the future. And a team like Boise State deserves a shot at a championship. This game was an instant classic by both teams. From what I saw, I'd put the Broncos on the field with anyone...

...let's face it. A team that is a) in a tied-score major bowl game, b) facing 4th and 6 in the 4th quarter, c) on their own 30-something yard line and d) pulls off a fake punt...is NOT intimidated by Auburn or Texas. 😉 And a great defense to boot, picking off TCU three times, one to clinch the game in the closing seconds.

So, come on BCS. You got a competitive, exciting game out of two non-auto teams. Let's be a little fairer in the rankings next year. Boise, with yet another undefeated season next year (should they) should rank higher than 6th. This is the same team that's won three straight bowl games, two major, and upset Adrian Peterson's Sooners a couple seasons back.

Plus...how cool is it that their field is blue?!? 😀

Love the blue field. but i bet against boise st and lost. plus i bet the over. another loss. i need to rebound tomorrow night dammit.

Yay! They won? Awesome. I so wanted to watch that game but I totally forgot. I'm not a Boise State fan but i'm a Fresno State fan (My school) and their in the same division and we're in a minor division and get looks down on because of that. It is so hard for us to be in a BCS bowl. Now only does a team in our division have to be Undefeated when none of the main divisions do but we also got to be picked to be in a BCS bowl... even being undefeated doesn't mean we'll be in a BCS game... which can be annoying.. Another team in one of the main divisions can like lose 2 games and we can be undefeated and still not go... It annoys me.

Like Boise.. they are awesome (Which I hate btw lol). They deserve more respect and I'm glad they won a big bowl game.

Well, they're gonna wind up ranked as the #2 team in the nation after the Auburn/Texas championship game. They'll be one of only two undefeated teams. The general buzz on ESPN (commentators and fans in the polls) is that Boise, if undefeated again, should get a title shot. They came in ranked 14th this year...they should start next season ranked anywhere from 4th-6th. They run the tables again (and they have both Oregon and Virginia Tech on that schedule), there's no way you keep them out of the title game. And...only one player is graduating from this team.

This is also good for recruiting. Which will bring in even better players.

Come on BCS. Boise's got one loss in the last three seasons, none in the last two, two Fiesta Bowl victories, a victory in a Poinsettia Bowl they never should have been stuck in...whatta they gotta do, cure Parkinson's? Plus, they got the Smurf Turf and the coolest helmets in football. 😉
