I just finished this new book called Never Let Me Go, by Kazuo Ishiguro, and I really loved it. It's strange and dark and deeply engrossing, and almost impossible to explain without giving away the plot. It's a fiction novel about 20th century England and a group of children in a special boarding school, who will grow up to become "carers" and "donors," and finding out what those are is part of the deeper mystery of the story. I practically couldn't put it down, and I highly recommend it.

You can read??!!? 😛

Just kidding, Jeff. I've read the book (I'm a fan of Japanese fiction). To say it's incredible would be an understatement...

Japanese authors, and filmmakers for that matter, are right on the money these days, and for good reason. Their explorations into the unknown, indirection, and dark secrets seem to be suited for them and the culture from which they originate these wonderful works of art.

Didn't know you were into dark subjects either...kewl.

Btw, do you ever cross into the realm of horror/thriller/supernatural? I'm looking for some new, Grade A, material...

"The truth is often unspoken."

Cheers.😀

I don't know if I've read anything really Grade A lately, but I really enjoyed Dean Koonz's Frankenstein, I thought it was a fun and interesting take on the same old story.

I didn't like it so much. I think I've just read too much Koontz. I think I was nine when I started reading him!

But I might have to check out this one recommended by Jeff. I'm a huge dork and love a good smart book. I used to be able to boast that I've read every book they make a Cliff's Notes for... I'm not sure if that's true anymore though.
