If your parents are stationed in the military overseas at a military site (as the Panama Canal Zone was at that time, before Jimmy Carter gave it away to Panama), you are on US soil, and anyone born to military or civilian personnel stationed there (provided the parent(s) are US Citizens) are considered US citizens by birth. I had a classmate that was born while her parents were stationed in Germany, and she was a US citizen.

As I understand it, this rule about being a citizen if your birth took place on a military base overseas wasn't always the case and that John McCain just made it under the wire. The law was put into effect just a few years before his birth.

It appears to me that if this was indeed the case...he would not have been allowed to run for President..these would have and probably actually i'm sure they were very thoroughly gone over at the time of his application..

Really? I did not know that. I thought it had been a longer standing law than that. So, prior to that, did they have to become naturalized citizens, or prior to then were there not a lot of families on bases overseas to create the need?

I think pento goes about watching faux news all wrong though, its like watching a mental freakshow great for amusement but not so much on substance, it can be really entertaining sometimes imo though.
