He just got into way too much trouble IMO; after awhile, no matter how deep you bury your sh*t, it still comes up stinking if you know what I mean.

There's a rumor brewing about Tony Dungy being a possible replacement. Hmmm....

I feel that I need to disclose that fact that although I live in OH, I am a PSU grad and a Nittany Lion for life ... however with that said I will restate my shock....

Yeah I wasn't sure how he was going to get out of this latest scandal. I am sure that the suspensions are hurting recruiting.

Shows how bad the NCAA needs to change it's rules. Now why can a player take all the free gifts from a bowl sponser and be ok but they can't sell something given to them from the school, jesus christ they were pins and pants as the NCAA and the schools make millions.

They're pimped out for 4-5 years and the school and NCAA make a crapload of money off them. The students are held to standards that the coaches, school, or NCAA doesn't seem to follow.

Sure sounds fair to me......:sowrong:
 
There wont be a replacement this year, the assistant coach who was going to coach the first 5 games has been named interim coach for the whole year and they will pursue Urban Meyer hard next year.

This stunned me, i cant/don't believe that he decided to walk away on his own, my guess is he was told behind the scenes that he either resigns or is fired
 
This is long overdue. Did anyone read the SI article yet? Tressel has been hiding behind his Christian faith for 20 years and now he is gone hopefully forever. I do believe OSU will be back one day because it is a top national brand as far as athletics go, but it may be quite a while. Just depends on what the final verdict will be as far as punishment goes.

As far as the athletes getting paid, this is a very tired argument. These kids are getting all of their school paid for. All of their meals, their books, room and board, etc. They have access to the top tutors on campus. They travel around the country for FREE. They stay in great hotels...experience things none of the other students get to do. Is the system flawed? Of course it is, but what happened at OSU is truly deplorable and they should get hammered.
 
At the end of the day, Tressel's not done. Someone will pick him up and he will coach again.

I just hope he's learned some lessons and stay out of trouble. I think he's a great coach, but he fell into the politics. We'll see how he lands........my money is him landing on his feet.
 
If you look up "fraud" in the dictionary, there will be a picture of Jim Tressel's smug face. He's another "Tiger Woods type character" in that he portrays this holier than though squeaky clean image in a sweater vest, yet when you pull the curtain back, he's nothing more than a phony, a cheater and a scam artist.

Wherever he decides to coach again, he should still have to serve his five game suspension. He shouldn't be able to skate free from this and start fresh somewhere else.
 
After reading the SI article...I wanted to take a shower in lye soap. It was that raunchy.
 
What a joke that display was over the weekend with the fans marching to Jim Tressel's house and chanting...are you serious?

Also, what is with that song, we don't care about the whole state of michigan...again...are you serious? This obsession with beating us is pathetic. Is this really the only thing you have going?

This whole ordeal showed that Tressel didn't give two shits about the kids he recruited and he hid behind his Christian faith leading others to believe he was a good guy.
 
I don't think Tressel did anything better or worse than any NCAA coach. He was just the one who got caught.

Any of you who are/were high school and college athletes know how dirty the business is. Some are dirtier than others but at the end of the day, they're ALL dirty to me. Tressel's resignation will NOT make the NCAA any less scandalous IMO.

where he won't be drafted.... or if he is he will never be more than a 3rd string filling a roster spot. He really needed the senior year to try to hone his skills and prove he could be a NFL quarterback. If he had an amazing year the best he could have hoped for was 4th-5th round, this way i think he ends up in the UFL sooner rather than later

I hope he kept some of that money he made on selling his merchandise cause he won't see much in the NFL. Some team will feel hes too good to pass up even for a third round pick, which means in the supplemental draft you forfeit your 3rd rounder in the real draft next year.

Even though I don't care for Ohio State, I always thought Tressel was a good guy until all this. He is no better than Pete Carroll who wisely left USC for the NFL when he knew the Bush scandal would possibly cost him his job. You really think he wanted to go to the Seahawks? Hell no, not when you have a nice cushy job recruting the best high school athletes for USC. He left with his tail between his legs and Tressel went the hard way(thats what she said).
