Well in case you haven't heard Brett Favre passed Dan Marino for #1 all time in touchdowns, he now has 422. And on top of that the Packers are 4-0 and are home against the Bears this week on sunday night football. I am a huge packers fan, I rank Favre easily in the top 5 all time at QB. What do you all think?

without a shadow of a doubt he is top 5...truth be told I am hard pressed to find a QB who is clear cut ahead of Farve...dont get we wrong all of the greats had their own special qualities yet Farve seems to have most of them

Well, I think it's really tough to compare quarterbacks from different eras. Jonny Unitas is sometimes considered the greatest of all time, but I never watched him play. Nor did I see Sammy Baugh or Otto Graham, amongst others. John Elway is the greatest I ever saw, but I'm a Bronco fan. That should indicate not only bias, but I watched him play a heck of a lot more than I did others. I'm not as impressed with Favre as I am with many others, although he had a lot less help at wide receiver than some. I would rate Fran Tarketon and Dan Marino above him. Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw, and Dan Fouts we're surrounded by talent, so it's tough to compare them to Favre. Even today, it's tough to compare Manning and Brady, who both have many good years left ahead of them barring injury, to Favre. Staubach, Len Dawson, Kenny Stabler- who I don't think gets the respect he deserves, Warren Moon: there's too many great QBs to name. Favre's not in my top ten, but I can see other people putting him up there. Longevity-wise, he is an anomaly.

stud qb

Great day for one of my favorite QB's whom I thought was done. Well done!

yea he is truly an Iron man. Not only has he gone through a bunch of injuries, but in the past 5 years especially he has also gone through his father's death, brother-in-law's death, wife's breast cancer, step-father in law's death, his house being destroyed by Hurricane Katrina and he still starts every game. 241 regular season game plus 20 more in the playoffs. 261 I don't know if any QB will match that. I think he is right there with Elway, Marino, Unitas and Montana as the best. Don't forget City of Mica, the past 3 or 4 years, he has virtually a bunch of unknown's and kids playing with him at WR and RB. to be 4-0 right now is amazing and also have an 8 game winning streak. Go Pack!!!!

No argument here in terms of what you just said, tfan. Playing as many seasons as Favre has in the NFL is an accomplishment in and of itself. With all the credit given to Cal Ripken for not missing starts (and granted, baseball is a more storied sport than football in America), you would think more accolades would be given to those who are this durable in Pro Football. After all, it's a contact sport. Elway, I believe, suffered more sacks in his career than any player in NFL history, yet he played 16 seasons. It's not normally talked about. And most people wouldn't know who holds the record in Pro Football for consecutive starts (it's DE Jim Marshall of the Minnesota Vikings, at least among position players- 20 years in the league, and he was a very good player!). Hopefully, people can appreciate what it takes to play the game for as long as Favre and Marshall have (Marshall is not in the HOF, but seems deserving of the honor).

Favre seems to still have plenty left in his tank. Marshall did, too, when he retired. Some guys seem to like playing the game so much that the wear and tear doesn't affect them (luck, body makeup, and conditioning surely enter in to it, too).
